What#8217;s new on the facelifted 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 Sedan

The Maruti Suzuki SX4 sedan has gotten a facelift and predictably the country#8217;s largest car maker chooses to call the facelifted model an #8220;all new#8221; version. The 2013 Maruti Suzuki SX4 sedan gets a bunch of changes on the outside and the inside. While these changes add to the visual appeal of the car, things under the skin remain pretty much untouched.

In that light, the latest facelift of the 2013 SX4 is more of a mid life makeover, a makeover aimed at boosting sales of the car. The SX4 has been a slow seller by Maruti Suzuki standards and the facelift is the latest salvo from the country#8217;s top car maker to brighten things at the hustings.

Under the hood, the facelifted Maruti Suzuki SX4 continues to motor on with three engine options: a 1.6 Liter VVT naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.6 Liter CNG-Petrol dual fuel engine and a 1.3 Liter Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine. While the petrol engine outputs 104 Bhp-145 Nm, the CNG motor delivers 86 Bhp-122 Nm. The diesel engine, equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger, outputs 90 Bhp-200 Nm. All three engines come with a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard.

The petrol variant can also be specified with a four speed automatic gearbox. The top end version of the SX4 gets leather seats, twin airbags, ABS and EBD.

Considering the slow car market, Maruti Suzuki has kept the prices of the facelifted SX4 unchanged from those of the older model. This means that the petrol powered SX4#8242;s base model starts at 7.37 lakh rupees while the diesel base model costs 8.27 lakh rupees. Both prices indicate ex-showroom Delhi figures.

Apart from its butch looks and the traditional Maruti Suzuki reliability, the SX4#8242;s other big strength is its generous ground clearance of 180mm on the top end versions. This high ground clearance ensures that the SX4 is well suited to tackle the rough and tumble of bad roads in India.
