2011 Volvo V50 Review

Volvo V50 Reviews

The Volvo V50 was discontinued for the US market after the 2011 model year. Some trim level adjustments were made to the 2011 Volvo V50 . Additionally, the turbocharged engine is standard now and an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are no longer available. The new engine gives the V50 wagon a little more oomph than the previous 2.4-liter. The V50 drives well and feels stable in many conditions, although it could be sportier.

The interior is styled attractively with high quality materials and plenty of space. The controls are straightforward and easy to use with the exception of the navigation system. The front seats are ergonomically designed for maximum comfort.

The rear seat folds down and increases the already impressive cargo space to 63 cubic feet.

Both trim levels of the V50, theT5 and T5 R-Design, get the same turbocharged 2.5-liter, inline-five engine with 227 horsepower. Front-wheel drive and a five-speed automatic transmission are standard on each model. For fuel efficiency, the V50 gets 21 miles per gallon in the city, 30 on the highway, and 24 overall.

The T5 trim level has plenty of standard features including steering wheel audio controls, heated mirrors, a power driver seat with memory, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and eight speakers with a CD player. The T5 R-Design also comes with a sunroof, a sportier exterior trim, roof rails, a sport-tuned suspension, leather upholstery, and special interior design touches. Several packages of additional features are optional for each trim level.

Safety features on the V5 include traction and stability control, antilock disc brakes, and side and side curtain airbags, which are standard on each model. Optional safety touches are integrated booster seats, and a warning system for blind spots.
