Is the Jaguar XF for you?

The Jaguar XF is an executive car released by the British car manufacturer to replace the Jaguar S-Type. In production since 2008, several models of the XF have been launched, including the XF Supercharged, XFR, Police Car, XF Sportbrake, and the XFR-S.

And depending on the country it was being sold in, it was also offered with different trims. For the UK, for instance, SE Business and Executive Edition models were released to cater to a market interested in company cars. In 2011, the XF received a facelift, the details of which were revealed at the New York International Auto Show.

Production of the facelifted XF began a couple of months after the auto show for the 2012 model year.

The Jaguar XF is considered to be the British car manufacturer’s standard-bearer and it is rightfully so since it presents the hallmarks of Jaguar’s work. It may have been an excellent model when it was first released but it was in the cosmetic and technical tweaks introduced in the 2012 model year that the XF really stood out. These, after all, paved the way for the inclusion of a 2.2-litre diesel engine, a premium engine choice for its sector.

With 161 and 197bhp options available, the XF now rivals the BMW 520d and the Mercedes E-Class.

Speaking of cosmetic tweaks, the XF now boasts of a sleeker front end, complemented by graceful lines that make this car one of the best-looking models in its class. The back end was also improved, with rear lights now using LED and redesigned to extend further down into the boot under the chrome strip. This evens out overall styling for the exteriors of the XF to make it look more balanced.

Inside, a bit of tidying up was done but Jaguar retains design flair to make the XF stand out even if you’re just comparing interiors with rivals in its class.

There are six trim levels offered with the Jaguar XF . However, not all of these may be offered with available drivetrain options. As such, it may not be possible to get what you want right off the bat. Whether you get the trim level you want or not though, expect to be provided with luxurious equipment, with an entry-level XF already including alloy rims, a stop-start function, electric seat adjustment, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, rain-sensing wipers, and a rear-parking assistance system.

Whatever engine option you choose, the XF is a real gem, offering incredible ride and handling as you would expect from anything from Jaguar. Steering is light and precise and brakes are modulated easily. And no matter the road surface, body control for the XF is unrelenting.

There’s no denying that the Jaguar XF is a real beauty inside and out. It would’ve been utterly perfect though if one of the updates Jaguar included involved adding more leg and elbow room for passengers at the back. You won’t have any problems up front though.

If you’re not likely to have passengers, then this shouldn’t be a concern.
