Upgraded Peugeot 107 for 2012 Revealed

Mike Bourne | 10th January 2012

Peugeot has revealed the upgraded version of its popular in-city car the 107, days prior to its February release date in the UK.

After six years and a whooping 650,000 unit sales, the Peugeot 107 gets a face lift. The upgraded version incorporates several style elements and additional equipment. The fuel economy and carbon dioxide emission figures have been improved for this new model. But starting price for the range has come down.

A sure shot success strategy!

What Does the New Peugeot 107 Offer

The external enhancements include a new nose with a deeper front bumper featuring stylish LED running lights and fog lights. The grille is divided into upper and lower parts and the bonnet gets a sculpted area adorned with the distinctive lion badge.

The new Peugeot 107 will be offered in three trim levels – Access, Active and Allure. The 107 Allure will be the top of the line model equipped with alloy wheels, rev counter, Bluetooth connectivity and USB port as standards. The mid range Active also gets Bluetooth and USB connections and air conditioning is a standard in all models except the basic trim the 107 Access.

The Best is yet to Come

If you are impressed with the above, wait till you hear (or rather read) this one. The 1.0 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine has been retained. But it has been tweaked considerably to improve fuel efficiency from 63mpg to 66 mpg. The carbon dioxide emissions have fallen below the 100gm/km mark to 99 grams per kilometre driven.

This means that the new Peugeot 107 qualifies for road tax exemption and also exemption from London’s Congestion Charge. This is for the very first time that Peugeot has come below the 100 gm/km emission mark.

The engine offers the same power as the current model – 68bhp and a peak torque of 70 pounds per feet. The maximum speed will remain the same at 100mph. The new Peugeot 107 will reach 62 mph from standing in 14.2 seconds, comparable to outgoing model.

The vehicle is equipped with a five speed manual gear box.

Pricing and Availability

All three new Peugeot 107 models will be available for sale in the UK next month. The three door base model Access will be available for GBP 7995, while the top of the range five door. Allure will set you back by GBP 10,545.

Where the company scores is in its pricing strategy. At GBP 7995, the entry model, Peugeot Access costs GBP 700 less than the cheapest version of the outgoing model.

Anything Extra?

Yes indeed. The company has come up with a ‘Just Add Fuel’ promotional scheme for the new Peugeot 107. At the time of sale, you get three years warranty, roadside assistance guarantee and service, all for a reasonable fixed monthly fee.

All you need to do is ‘just add fuel’ and enjoy your drive.

The Peugeot 107 is one of the top selling models for the company. It sells around 16,000 units per year on an average. With the new upgraded, Peugeot 107, the company is making sure that the model remains contemporary and popular with the public.
