Toyota Passo and Daihatsu Boon

Two Japanese automakers, Toyota Motor Corp. (TMC) and Daihatsu Motor Co Ltd (DMC), are both introduced #8220;the twins#8221; hatchback for its domestic market. If Toyota product named Toyota Passo, Daihatsu products named Boon. Both use the same platform.

For TMC, the presence of Passo is the second generation with a number of advantages over first generation which was launched in June 2004.

To be sure, more nimble maneuvers, the interior are more spacious, fuel efficient, and environmentally friendly.

Passo Gen-2 is present in two types, namely #8220;Passo#8221; is simple and stylish and #8220;Passo Hana#8221; for family. Uniquely, the hatchback vehicle which has a dimension of long 3640 mm (Hannah 3650 mm), width 1665 mm, 1535 mm high, has 11 color choices.

For machines, there are two choices. First, a capacity of 1.0 L 1KR-FE (for Passo and Passo Hana) equipped with Continuously Variable Timing (CVT) and front-wheel axle. Toyota claims 25 per cent more efficient than standard fuel consumption of 2010 issued by the Japanese government.

Indeed, the Japanese standard test results (refer to the Minister of Transport), the fuel consumption is 20.8 km/liter, whereas the traditional tests (10-15 times around the location) gained 22.5 km/liter.

The second engine with a capacity of 1.3 L 1NR-FE has Dual Variable Valve Timing-Intelligent system (DVVT-i). This machine is only for Passo Hana who holds four-wheel axle systems. However, its efficiency is still about 15 percent more efficient than Japan#8217;s 2010 standards.

In addition, there is also a front wheel axle version.

Despite the small dimensions, these vehicles have a high level of safety because it is equipped with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control System (TRC). So, with the combination of two technologies, the traction and the engine power can be controlled. Likewise with the brakes so that it can overcome the symptoms of spin.

TMC target production is 6,500 units per month. The price sold ranging from 1 million yen to 1,470,000 yen.

For Daihatsu, Boon is the first collaboration vehicle with Toyota for the domestic market (Japan domestic market). You might say, for the capacity of the machines and technology that was brought, is same like Passo. Including the use of CVT, extremely low exhaust emissions and fuel efficient.

From the composition, it is clear that the birth of Boon is for tax hit. For fuel consumption, it’s 20 percent more efficient than standard fuel consumption which was published in 2010 by the Japanese government.
