Toyota Fortuner Review by Expert

The Japanese automaker Toyota Motors has originally launched their premium Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Toyota Fortuner in India in the year 2009. This was the time when the likes of Ford Endeavour and Chevrolet Captiva were doing decent sales in the country meanwhile; Toyota was not at all able to provide them with befitting threat with its MPV Toyota Innova. Hence, a stalwart premium SUV was need of the hour to capture India’s premium SUV market; as a result Toyota Fortuner was introduced.

The imposing SUV has got a facelift recently that has made it demand more respect from its competitors. Toyota Fortuner is basically based on a heavy-duty pick-up truck called Toyota Hilux. The uncompromising vehicle is designed with solid body and in-depth sturdiness to offer excellent performance on-road and off-road along with best in segment pricing.

The 2012 Toyota Fortuner’s new front grille and broader looking projector headlamps seem inspired from gigantic Toyota Land Cruiser. Above the hood is a big scoop that feeds air to the air-intercooler along with a skid plate that bestows an amazing appearance to the vehicle. The built quality, fit and finish level and paint job are typically Japanese, with no margin of error.

The stadium-like capacious interiors are now better managed and look distinct compared to earlier version of Toyota Fortuner which, more of, looks like Toyota Innova. As soon as you place yourself on the driving seat, you will find authoritativeness getting into your veins with its upright stance, while the seats truly supportive and comfortable.

The aspects like steering wheel, air-conditioner, wood inserts and switches are all new alongside best in class fabric material used to make you sense premium-ness in the cabin. There are more than adequate safety features like ABS with EBD and BA along with SRS airbags in the front, while others include seat belts with pre-tensioners and many more.

The Toyota Fortuner is power by a mammoth diesel power train of 3.0L that outpours a maximum power of 171PS and a peak torque of 343 Nm. This power packed performer is mated to either choice of 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed Automatic Transmission (AT).
