The Specifications Final Drive Ratio for a 1990 Mitsubishi GTO

Engines

Mitsubishi’s grand touring car was equipped with a 3.0-liter V-6 engine in either naturally aspirated or turbocharged form. The dual-overhead cam, 24-valve engine had a bore and stroke of 3.59-by-2.99 inches. Compression ratio measured 10.0-to-1 for naturally aspirated cars; 8.0-to-1 for those equipped with the twin turbochargers. Even though it carried considerable weight, the GTO was a quick car.

Base model engines produced 220 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 201 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. The turbocharged GTO Twin Turbo and GTO Twin Turbo MR engine made 276 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 315 pound-feet of torque at 2,500 rpm.

Interior and Exterior

Mitsubishi’s GTO was a large, two-door, four-seat sports car. Seating consisted of a 2+2 setup with bucket seats and three-point safety belts for all four passengers. Base-engined cars were equipped with a cloth interior, whereas turbocharged models received leather seating and interior accents.

The car was 179.3 inches long, 72.4 inches wide and 50.6 inches tall, and rode on a 97.2-inch wheelbase. Curb weight was relatively hefty, due in large part to the car’s all-wheel-drive and four-wheel-steering systems. The base model weighed around 3,600 lbs. depending on transmission choice and options.

Turbocharged models tipped the scales at 3,750 lbs.
