Volvo 480

In March, 1986 the Swedish company Volvo presented the first front-wheel drive model – Volvo 480. She became the founder of family of 400th series. It was sporting a 3-door car and much more with the basket of rare type is coupe-wagon, by an almost vertical back wall and taken away headlights. The last are hidden into a hood and rise by means of electro mechanic only at including of near or distant light. In a word a novelty got very eccentric appearance. A landing formula was too unusual enough: instead of usual five local salons inwardly Volvo 480 was four separate arm-chairs with individual seatbelts and possibility of regulation. Engines on this model it was only two: 2,0-with ...

The Volvo 480 – About Volvo Cars – Volvo Racing

Volvo 480 for Sale History The 480 or ‘Project E12’, marked a big change within Volvo. The car was designed by Robert Koch and John de Vries in 1981, after a design-off between three different departments. The car has some great style, with a sleek swept back looks. But the car does not look out of place next to other Volvos of the same era thanks to its chunky bumps and angled corners. Its quirky design is not its only feature, the car sports some wonderful technical inivations, including being one of the first cars to have a full engine management unit and innovative use of plastics. Also as part of the changes at Volvo the 480 was the first Volvo model to come with front ...

Preloved | volvo 480 celebration 73/480 for sale

Volvo 480 Celebration 73/480 Morwenna is my 1995 480 Celebration (73/480) and over the last few years I have invested considerable time, effort, and money in restoring this car to as near showroom condition as (for a 18 year old car) I could. I have maintained and serviced her myself and have reams of receipts and paperwork recording this. To be honest, she has wanted for nothing. The Good She is in excellent condition inside and out, as hopefully the photographs show. Items replaced over time include various suspension parts, new brake discs and pads all round, handbrake cables, cambelt change, driveshaft CV boots, alternator, water pump, ignition coil, boot struts, boot lid wiring ...

Volvo 480 Development [edit ] Press launch was on October 15, 1985, but the 480 was first put on show at Geneva in 1986, becoming available to the public in 1987. It was produced in Born, Netherlands. at the factory which built DAF cars, including the DAF 66 -based Volvo 66 and later Volvo 300 Series. The platform that was also used in the Volvo 440 and 460. It was originally planned for the North American market (as can be evidenced by its US-spec front and rear side markers, not used on European automobiles), but it was ultimately never sold in the U.S due to unfavourable currency exchange rates. The 480 was the first Volvo of its sport back style since the P1800ES. and the last until ...

PetrolBlog | A Different Spin

Bangerwatch: Volvo 480 You#8217;ve seen Springwatch, you may have even seen Autumnwatch, but now PetrolBlog introduces Bangerwatch. It many ways it is much the same as the TV show, only without Kate Humble, animals or a primetime slot on BBC television. The idea is simple, PetrolBlog will hunt down interesting and increasingly rare cars that have somehow fallen into Banger territory. By giving them some exposure it is hoped that they will be considered as potential Bangernomics project cars and in some cases, saved from inevitable extinction. There are no hard and fast rules over what constitutes a Banger, but a price of sub £1k is probably a good place to start. To kick things off, PetrolBlog ...

Volvo 480 Information

Living with the Volvo 480 By Chris Wickers The first time I saw the 480 coupe was at the 1986 Motor Show and I can remember thinking how unlike a typical Volvo it was. (I was not aware of the P1800 at that time!) In 1987 my local Dealer held a launch day for the model, and as my father had just purchased a new vehicle he received an invite. Much to my annoyance I was refused a test drive due to my age, as at 20 I was deemed to be too young! The following summer after I had purchased a 360 GLT I was permitted to take the 480 for a test drive and immediately became impressed with its roadholding ability, novel features, and in my view stylish good looks. The 440 and 460 launch soon followed ...

Take the Volvo 480 for example; it arrived in the UK in 1987 but was never a big seller, even though it’s really rather good. Neatly styled, very well equipped, brimming with design and technology details and decently practical too, the 480 disappeared into obscurity almost as soon as the last one rolled off the production lines in Daf’s old Dutch factory, in 1995. The spiritual successor to the short-lived 1800ES of the early 1970s, the 480 was Volvo’s fi rst transverse-engined front-wheel ...
