Project Crown: Inspirations Large #038; Small Next Chapter When I last left off with my ’69 Toyota Crown Wagon project, I had gotten the car titled, got it rolling, washed, and had begun to ready it for the next stages of the build. Today I’d like to share a couple more small updates on the project and also touch on some of the Crown-related inspiration (and souvenirs) I found during my recent time in Japan. Let’s begin by traveling back to January for the JCCA New Year Meeting. Among the large sea of amazing cars I saw that day was this Tokyo-based 50-series Crown Custom Wagon not unlike my own. Interestingly, I couldn’t recall ever seeing this particular car before – either ...

iheartstance D1NZ round 2 VIP hard park Here are a few of my favourite shots from the park up at Pukekohe on Saturday#8230; Classic hachi, very tidy. Liking the stickerbombing and blacked out light covers. Simple but very clean Silivia. Loving the strawberry face! I#8217;ve always loved this Onevia, not sure who the owner is now though but I#8217;m glad he hasn#8217;t messed with it! CJC jerkfest 2011 To continue on from this previous post, on Friday we met up with a few fellow Auckland-based CJC members before cruising down to Taupo for the #8216;Jerkfest#8217; track day at Taupo Motorsport Park. After driving at Meremere last weekend, I felt like I had built up a bit of confidence ...

California Mille: Condolences

Martin Swig with his son David at Sears Point in 1989 Dear Esta, David and Howard, With Martin I lost a piece of my life. Together with your dad and husband I run lots of adventures and loved unforgettable moments. Martin will be always on my side for thousands and thousands runs. I’ll remember him, together with Toni and Ornella, as a wonderful friend, a great organiser and an extraordinary actor of the motoring world. His kindness, his capacity of being a friend until the end, without limits, and his happiness while driving his Alfa 1900, whose picture is always in front of me, will never leave me. Pebble Beach week will never be the same without him. I send you a big hug and ...

2007 Toyota Tundra Test Drive and Review Posted by: mtnbecky By Becky B. Thursday June 28, 2007 Location: Dublin, CA Conditions: Clear and breezy This vehicle is HUGE compared to what I drive, but I had a blast driving it anyway. The engine is massive, so I wanted to get it up to speed and see how it handled out on the open road. I was very pleasantly surprised. Even though the iForce 5.7L V8 engine eats little engines for snacks, it still gets decent gas mileage compared to other rides of its size. Acceleration is intuitive, as is deceleration…very nice transitions from fast to slow. (Vehicle specs page has the observed gas mileage for the Tundra test drive) The interior was roomy, ...

fav nz wheels fitment 2011 4 rotary supershow On Saturday we went down to check out the annual 4 and Rotary Supershow held at the Telstra Clear centre in Manukau. I’ve never been to the Supershow before so I wasn’t too sure what to expect, but by the time I left for the day I’ll admit I had a pretty big smile on my face! There were 3 things in particular that brought this on, the first of which was seeing these two amazing slammed and BBS-ed out rides roll up together! Toni’s old school Maserati takes girl stance to a whole new level#8230; Most of you will know Toni for her infamous Louis Vuitton themed Lexus V8-powered Mercedes show car! Her latest project is something a lot ...

Project Car Hell, Classic Toyota Wagon Edition: Crown or Cressida? Shopping for a NEW or used vehicle? Click here to start your search. After starting the new Project Car Hell series with the Pricey Rat Rod Engine Swap Edition. we found ourselves turning Japanese with the Off-Brand Japanese ’80s Hairdryer Edition. Normally, the demons in the Project Car Hell Garage of Pain would follow up those two tortures with a changeup, say a rusty Lancia Aprilia versus a ran when parked (in 1947) Peugeot 302. But, see, sometimes you roll that rock all the way to the top of the mountain, only to find another rock waiting at the bottom of a very similar mountain. Let’s say you’re the ...

My own Q

Commer Connections The Website for Commer and Karrier Enthusiasts It all started with a phone call – Thursday night 5:15pm, 26th June 2008. Win Ashe, a former local truck driver and Ferguson tractor enthusiast just down the road, had been up to a clearing sale about an hour away where there was an old Commer for sale. He was told it was a 1941 and from what he described, it sounded like a Superpoise Q. There were few people there and little interest and a scrapman had bought it for next to nothing. However due to its age and heritage value, he was not really keen to turn it into scrap. Knowing of my interest in Commers, Win thought he would give me a ring. He had photos, which were ...

Used Toyota Crown Wagon Overview Used Toyota Crown Wagon Overview The Crown was introduced in 1955 in Japan to meet the demand of public transportation in the form of a taxi,[2] with the same 1.5 L Type R engine used on their previous car, the Toyopet Super. The front doors open conventionally, and the rear doors open from the center #8220;B#8221; pillar to aid entry and exit from the back. Its coil and double wishbone independent front suspension was a departure from the leaf sprung live axle front suspension used on most previous models but was similar to the independent front suspension used on the 1947 Toyopet SA. The live axle rear suspension was similar to that used on most of the ...
