Homepage Subaru Impreza

The Subaru Impreza is synonymous with rallying and has always gone down a storm with tuning companies with its small 2.0 Turbo engine, big bhp/torque and an ability to make much more expensive vehicles look completely inadequate.

As the Impreza has evolved from the now ‘classic’ GC GF series (1992-2000), through the years of the Bug, Blob and Hawk eyed GD GG, into the GE GH (2007-2011) and finally onto the hatchback GV (2011 on), there is an Impreza for all budgets and tastes.

Here at Pedders Suspension, we believe in offering a choice as to how you would like your vehicle to handle, drive and behave.

Within the Impreza range, we can offer straight forward replacement parts, uprated performance parts including dampers and springs, and also the Xa coilover kits for those looking for the ultimate in adjustability.

To assist you choose the right parts for your car, please read the notes below:

“You list several different dampers, which one do I need?”

If you are just looking for a replacement damper to replace a defective one, then our “Comfort Gas” dampers are the ideal choice. This will fit and perform in the same manner as the originals. We strongly recommend replacing these in pairs. For those looking for an improvement in handling and control, then our “SportsRyder” dampers are worth considering.

These will work with the standard springs, or for a more aggressive look, can be combined with our lowering springs.

“Ive heard that there are different rear dampers for different models?”

Yes, this is correct. Which damper is fitted is dictated by the top mount. There is an early version (up to circa 2004) and a late version for 2004 onwards. Please see the photos for the difference.

Not sure which version you have fitted? With every damper we supply a spacer to allow correct fitment along with an instruction sheet. Whoever if fitting your dampers will be able to identify which mount is fitted once removed from the car and use the spacer if required as described on the instruction sheet .

“I understand there are different heights of damper. Can you explain this?”

Yes, this is correct. There are 2 different versions of dampers with regard to heights. Subaru made dampers with different spring seat heights, i.e. the cup which the spring sits on. Most regular and WRX models will have been produced with the higher seat, but some including some STI models with 100m wheel stud pattern will have the lower spring seat. What this means, is that when replacing a damper using one with a different spring seat height, the ride height of the vehicle may be altered.

All our dampers use the higher version. As many cars may have had their dampers changed, it is impossible to know which is fitted. To be absolutely certain, it is necessary to measure the spring seat height as shown in the pictures.

“Ive got an STI model. Do you do dampers for these?”

Yes an no! The simple way to check is to measure your wheel PCD, i.e. the distance between the wheel studs (as shown in the picture). If it is 100mm then the dampers will fit, If it is 114mm, then this has STI spec suspension.

We do not offer replacement dampers for these, though we do offer a coilover kit for the STI.

Please select your Impreza from the list below and then choose the components that you are looking for.
