Skoda Octavia – entirely Made in Russia

Skoda Octavia model will be produced entirely in Russia, despite current crisis, thereby supporting the upward trend of the Skoda brand in this country. Full production started 11 months before the date originally planned.

Skoda brand#39;s market share in Russia rose to 2.5%, sales of this brand is in write-downs more than the entire internal market of automobiles. Škoda Auto has started car production in Russia in 2007 at its plant in Kaluga, a joint venture with Volkswagen group. Thus, since October 2007, produced models Skoda Octavia Tour (liftback, combat in August 2008) and Skoda Octavia (liftback, combat in August 2008). Russian car market has been hit hard by economic slump. Nevertheless, it remains a very attractive market for us with huge potential. Along with India and China, Russia consider a dynamic market, with a positive outlook regarding her future.

Some experts believe that the moment we arrived at the minimum point of the current economic crisis. We use the entire capacity of the plant in Kaluga Skoda brand to strengthen market position, said Reinhard Jung, Chairman of the Board Director of Skoda Auto.

The objective of Skoda brand sales for the current year is 35,000 cars. With the current auto industry, our goal is to strengthen brand position by increasing market share, reaching 2.5% this year compared to 1.9% last year.

The most popular models in Russia are Skoda Fabia, Octavia and Octavia Tour. Contrary to current problems, the Superb has had a very good reception from potential customers and the press , said Petr Janeba, director of Skoda Auto Russia.
