Today on our 2010 Scion XB, well be test fitting the Yakima Double Down Ace four bike carrier for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number y02451. A quick note on this bike rack, it will work in both inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, however, when using a class I hitch you are limited to two bikes.

Now weve already gone ahead and removed our two inch adapter, so well slide our bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install the attached hitch pin. With the hitch pin in we can move to the back of the shank where well tighten the knob down securing our bike rack to the vehicle. Now well go ahead and give you a few measurements, our ground clearance at the bike rack is 10 inches, and from the closet point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is six inches.

Well now go ahead and pull the pin on the back of the bike rack mast to allow the mast to tilt down.

Today on our 2010 Scion XB, well be test fitting the Pro Series Q Slot Platform Style two bike carrier for both inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number ps63134. Now weve already removed the included adapter for the two inch hitch, so well go ahead and slide our bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install our hitch pin. Well then put the clip on the other side of the hitch pin which will secure our bike rack to the vehicle.

Well now give you a few measurements, our ground clearance at the bike rack is 15-1/2 inches and from the closet point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is eight inches. Well now go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform and open our cargo door and as you can see we can gain full access to the cargo area opening our cargo door completely with this bike. Were now almost ready to load our bike, well need only to make sure that our wheel loop straps are undone and out of the way and that our vertical bar clamp is fully extended.

Today on this 2009 Scion xB we will be installing trailer hitch part number 12490 from Curt. Okay we are underneath the vehicle looking and we are taking a look at the passenger-side frame rail. I am going to go ahead and point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. As you can see here at the end of the frame rail we have got three existing weld nuts, and we are going to be using those as our attaching points.

We will be taking the 12 millimeter bolts and conical tooth washers that are provided with our installation kit and threading them directly in there.

Today we are going to install part number 12490 from Curt. And we are going to install this hitch on a 2008 Scion XB. First we will show you how this hitch installs on the vehicle.

It is going to install on these three holes that are existing in the frame right now, and they are threaded. On some older vehicles, you may have to clean those out with a wire brush and some high lubricant – or, in worst-case scenario, a thread tap. Also what we are going to have to do is take down our exhaust.

Spray down this hanger here with some lubricant and then slide it off. And you can tell we have already did spray a little bit of that. That will lower the muffler out of our way so we can get our work done. And then on the drivers side, this tie-down bracket will have to come off and stay off.

And the hitch will go back into its place. What you want to do next is go ahead and check the holes. Run a a bolt in there. Make sure they thread in there okay. Like I said, if it is dirty, you may have to take a few steps and clean them out.

And once you get everything started and, you know, make sure it looks good and clean, then you can go ahead and install your hitch at this point.

Scion xB Questions and Answers

Most Class I trailer hitches have a notch in the receiver to prevent Class 2, 1-1/4 inch accessories from being loaded. I confirmed with Yakima that the Double Down Ace 2 # Y02450 you referenced, will fit a Class I hitch.

In order to verify this I took our demo Double Down Ace 2 and performed a test fit it on a Class I, 1-1/4 inch Draw-Tite receiver with a notch and it did fit. The attached video demonstrates the test fit. If you are carrying either womens, childrens or alternative frame

The Curt # C56175 trailer wiring harness you mentioned is not a vehicle specific item, it can be used with many different vehicles and therefore there are no vehicle specific instructions available. To install the wiring harness, having a circuit tester like part # 40376 would be very helpful. Locate the wiring harness feeding both of the taillight assemblies. You might need to do some disassembly in the cargo area of the vehicle or remove the taillight assemblies as if you were replacing a

I checked with Yakima and the Yakima KingJoe Pro 2 Bike Rack # Y02624 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for you 2005 Scion xB. Here are the installation notes that Yakima recommends for this rack: Place the upper strap hooks at the top edge of trunk, hatch lid, or rear door Outer/Lower support frame rests on the lower portion of the license plate, below the numbers Place the lower strap hooks at the bottom edge of the trunk, hatch lid, or rear door Side strap hooks to back side edg

You can potentially carry 2 surfboards side by side on the roof of your 2006 Scion xB depending on how wide the boards are and the usable width of the crossbars on the roof rack. First, if you need a roof rack, I recommend Yakima rack made up of the following parts: 58 inch crossbars, # Y00409 Q121 Q Clips, # Y00721 (you will need 2 sets of these) Q Towers, # Y00124 Then you could use a couple sets of the Yakima pads, # Y04070, to protect the boards from the crossbars. You would also nee

The Curt Hitch # C114872 that you referenced would be an excellent choice for a hitch for your 2006 Scion xB. This hitch has more than enough capacity for your 800 lb tent trailer and comes with a 2 inch ball as well. I attached installation instructions for this hitch for you to check out also.

For a 4-way wiring kit that is confirmed to fit your vehicle and is plug and play I would recommend the # 118414. I attached installation instructions for this product as well.

I have a solution for you that will allow you to transport 4 bikes with your 2011 Scion xB Release Edition, but like you said, there are no hitches available that we carry that will work on the Release models. What you will first need is a Thule Raceway 3 Bike Trunk Mounted Carrier # TH9002. This will carry three of your bikes.

I attached installation instructions and a review video for this product also. If you plan on carrying womens or alternative framed bikes you will want a Thule Bik

In order to flat tow your xB, you will need a tow bar, base plates, safety cables, a wiring solution to provide lighting for the towed vehicle and a supplemental braking system. The Blue Ox Alpha tow bar you referenced would be a great choice that also includes safety cables. For base plates, the # BX3784 base plate kit is a fit for models equipped with fog lights.

A good wiring solution is the LED Bulb and Socket Kit, # BX88267. This kit allows the flat towing wiring to remain completely

When there is an option always go for the highest Class hitch for any given vehicle. A higher class hitch will allow you more options for accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers in addition to greater towing capacity. For a 2009 Scion xB we have Class II trailer hitch # 12490.

The towing capacity of the hitch is 350 pounds tongue weight and 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight. I have included a link to the instructions and a video for you. The towing capacity of a vehicle can change depe

The two most common sizes of trailer hitch receivers are 1-1/4 inch x 1-1/4 inch and 2-inch x 2-inch. The U.S. Navy Trailer Hitch Cover, part # TH7, you have referenced, is only designed to fit in a 2-inch hitch receiver.

I have one U.S. Navy hitch cover available to fit the 1-1/4 inch size trailer hitch. It is the DWD U.S. Navy Trailer Hitch Cover, part # 104054. I have many more U.S.

Navy hitch covers available, but they will only fit into a 2-inch size trailer hitch. I am includin

Yes, the conical tooth washer needs to be positioned so that the teeth face the hitch. That is what prevents it from coming loose. Take a look at the video I have linked.

At about the 1:50 mark the installers start to put the hardware on to mount the hitch and they mention the conical tooth washer.

Hitch covers go inside the hitch just like how a ball mount would install that you would use for towing a trailer. You will need a pin and clip like part # PC2 or a hitch lock like our # 7682 that will deter theft to secure this to your vehicle.

If the bike completely obscures one of the tail lights so that it is not visible at all through the bike, then using the EZ-Mount Light Kit # EZT20B that you mentioned would be a great solution. As you said, you would also need the T-One Harness, # 118414 to provide a connection for the EZ mount lights to plug into. Installing the harness is a straightforward procedure, as you can see by looking over the installation instructions that I have linked to. You could simply close the flaps of

All of the trailer hitches for a 2006 Scion xB are Class I hitches so you will need a cargo carrier that is compatible with a Class I hitch. I have included a link to the options that will fit. I recommend the Draw-Tite carrier # 6500.

This carrier fits a Class I hitch and is adjustable to be up to 11-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole. It has a rise in the shank that raises the platform up 3 inches from the top of the receiver opening giving you more ground clearance. I have in

The Curt Trailer Hitch # 11487 that you referenced has towing capacities of 2,000 gross trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. If your sailboat and trailer only weighs 400 lbs and you can lift the tongue of the trailer with one hand this hitch should be more than adequate for your 2006 Scion xB. I attached installation instructions for this product for you to check out.

It would still be a good idea to check the tongue weight of your trailer when its loaded just to be sure. I linked an faq

I do have a couple of options for you. First, I recommend installing the available Class II trailer hitch from Curt, # 12490, on your 2008 Scion xB. This hitch has a 350 pound tongue weight capacity but you will also need to consult the vehicle owners manual for the capacity of the vehicle and go by the lower of the 2 ratings.

You could then use the Trailer Hitch Mounted Scooter / Wheel Chair Carrier, # RHWC1114. This carrier weighs about 90 pounds, so you have to subtract from the tongue wei

The first thing you are going to want to do is consult the vehicle owners manual for the proper procedure on towing the vehicle. If you find that the vehicle can be flat towed you will need 5 items. First, you will need base plates.

These provide a safe and secure attachment point on the vehicle for a tow bar. For your xB without fog lights, you would need Roadmaster base plates, # 1187-1A. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. Next, you will need a compatible tow b

As long as your 2011 Scion xB is not a Release model, you can use the Curt trailer hitch # 12490. This is a Class II trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. The bike rack you choose will need to fit in the 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a link to a video showing a typical installation of the trailer hitch for you.

While there are some bike racks that fit on a ball mount, most bike racks actually fit in the receiver opening. For a tra

First, you will need to add a 4-Way trailer wiring harness on the 2009 Scion xB. You can use # 118468, that you have referenced. The rest of the installation will require a little hardwiring since trailers towed by passenger vehicles normally have combined stop and turn signals. What you will need to do is cut off the 4-Way plug after installing the wiring harness on the vehicle.

This will leave you with a white wire, a brown wire, a green wire, and a yellow wire. You will need to use an addi

The Thule Raceway 2 Trunk Mount Bike Rack, # TH9001, will fit a 2008 Scion xB and a 2007 Toyota Prius. I have included links to the installation details and a link to a video that shows the 3 bike version but it has the same features as the 2 bike version. I have also included links to all of the trunk mount bike racks that will fit each car. If you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes, I recommend using the Bike Adapter Bar, # TH982XT, in order to carry the bikes mo

For your 2008 Scion XB I would recommend a Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack with Aero Crossbars # DA1375B and a Custom DK Clamps and Pads for Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack System # DK152. You could put a cargo carrier on the roof of this rack also. I would recommend a Thule Excursion Roof Mounted Black Cargo Box # TH667ES. This rack will fit most aftermarket and factory racks and should work very well for you.

I attached installation instructions for you to check out also.

I do have trailer hitches available for the 2010 Toyota Scion tC, the Scion xB (except Release Series models), and the Scion xD. All of the hitches available for the Scion will be Class I 1-1/4 inch hitches. Each vehicle model will have three different hitches available.

I am including three links to product pages that will list the hitches available for each model of Scion. Also, I am including a link to a video of a hitch being installed on a Scion xB. If you can let me know the exact

I have three hitches available for a 2009 Scion xB and they are all 1-1/4 inch size hitches. Two of the hitches are Class I 1-1/4 inch hitches that can only carry a maximum of two bikes. The CURT Class II 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 12490, is a Class II hitch which can carry 4 bikes, but since the CURT hitch is a 1-1/4 inch hitch and the Tow Ready 4 Bike Hitch Rack, part # 63124, you have referenced is for a 2 inch hitch, it will not fit on your Scion xB. If you use the CURT # 12490 hitch on you

According to the installation instructions for CURT Trailer Hitch, # 11487, you will not need to remove the muffler in order to install the hitch on your 2005 Scion xB. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. The hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin, and clip.

If you plan to do some towing you will need a ball, # 19256 (1-7/8 inch diameter) or # 19258 (2 inch diameter). For trailer wiring, use T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118414. I have included a link

I found a trunk mounted bike rack that will work on your 2004 Scion XB, you would want a Yakima QuickBack # Y02622. I attached installation instructions for you to check out. If you plan on carrying womens or alternative framed bikes you might also be interested in a Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar, part # Y02531.

I attached installation instructions and a review video for you to check out. I checked with our bike rack recommendations and there is not a trunk mounted bike rack option for

In order to install and use the CURT Roof Mount Cargo Basket, # C18115, or any cargo basket, you will need to install crossbars on the roof of your 2006 Scion xB. Suction cups and tie downs are not a safe or advisable installation method. To add crossbars, you can use the following 3 parts: Thule Traverse Roof-Rack Foot Pack, # TH480 Roof-Rack Fit Kit for Traverse Foot Packs, # THKIT1172 Load Bars, # THLB58 With the crossbars installed, you will be able to mount the CURT Cargo Basket, #

I spoke with my contact at Redline and he informed me that the height of this Gooseneck Coupler Head, # 291300, is 2-7/8 inches, the flange is 4-7/8 inches, and the thickness of the lip flange is 3/8 of an inch. Check out the picture I put together that has these measurements on it.

The overall width of the Swagman RV and Motorhome 2 Bike Carrier, item # S80630, is 9-1/4 inches. I added dimensions to a photo and produced a short video that should help you determine if this rack will easily install on your RV Ladder. The 10 inch inside measurement you took leads me to believe this rack will work for you.

On the Pro Series 2-bike carrier, # PS63134, the distance from the top of the shank that fits into the receiver to the bottom most part of the platform is only about 2 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest edge of the carrier is 7-1/2 inches, so it will clear the bumper on your 2006 Scion xB, even with the rise in the shank. If you look at the fourth picture from the left on the product page, you will see that the center mast folds flat away from the vehicle. With this

Before purchasing or using snow chains, you will want to make sure that your owners manual does not prohibit the use of chains. Assuming that your XB has 185/60-15 tires, you have several choices. If you are only purchasing the chains for this one particular trip, you might want to go with a more basic set of chains, like the Glacier Square Link Snow Tire Chains, part # PWPLC1126.

As you move up in price, the chain sets are easier to install. The Thule Standard Tire Chains, part # TH01221065

The item you selected, T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118468 plugs directly into the tail light harness of your Scion xB, but does require a ground connection and connecting to the battery. Part # 118468 plugs into the tail light harness at the rear driver side of your vehicle located behind the trim panel. You will plug part # 118468 into the tail light harness then, plug the connector into the tail light. After plugging in part # 118468 to the tail light harness, you will need to conn
