The saab 9000 was introduced in 1985 and consisted of 2 models, the CS (hatchback) and the CD (saloon).

The CD was introduced in 1988 and the CS updated from its shape in 1992 which discarded its rear quarter panel windows in the rear on the boot.

The saab 9000 was designed by GiorgettoGiugiaro.

The saab 9000 was and still is in our opinion one of the best models saab have ever produced.

The CS version (hatchback) and the CD (saloon) had these engine variations-

Saab 9000 2.0 injection

Saab 9000 2.3 injection

Saab 9000 2.0 Eco

Saab 9000 2.3 Eco

Saab 9000 2.0 turbo (earlier models and carlsson)

Saab 9000 2.3 turbo

Saab 9000 2.5 V6

Saab 9000 3.0 V6

The saab models above were all available in manual and automatic with the exception of the 3.0 V6 which was automatic only.

The level of specification varies greatly on the saab 9000 just like the saab 93, saab 95 and saab 900. To make it easy the CS and CD are standard models so expect less equipment (although we have had a few which are very well equiped), The CSE and CDE have more equipment and better refinements inside, iesaab leather and walnut dashboards etc.

The best equippedsaabs were the saab 9000 aero and the saab 9000 griffin, (the aero being the CSE hatchback, and the Griffin being the CDE saloon). These 2 models came with almost everything, below is a list of spec that most of them had.

Electric leather interior

Bucket leather seats (aero only)

Climate control

Heated seats

CD audio along with tape deck

Sunroof (only standard on the griffin, but some aero’s from new had them fitted)

Cruise control

Rear blinds (only in the Griffin)

Electric windows

Electric wing mirrors

Heated wing mirrors

Full body kit (saab 9000 aero only)

Boot spoiler (saab 9000 aero only)

The griffin came in 2 engine sizes the 3.0 V6 (the earlier years and the 2.3 turbo (the later years). Saab 9000 Griffin’s were only available in the automatic. The saab 9000 aero available in the manual and automatic, but only the 2.3 turbo 225 BHP engine.

Some more detailed information is available in the links below.

Saab also produced an anniversary edition to celebrate 50 years of production, which they have now repeated in the later model new shape saab 93. The anniversary had colour coded bumpers (very similar to the aero model) and 2 tone suede and leather interior with the saab aeroplane embossed in the backrest of the seat. Walnut steering wheel and a special badge on the side of the saab 9000 indicated they were the anniversary model.

Engine sizes available in all the above apart from the V6 editions, and available in automatic and manual transmission.

More information on this model is available in the link below.

This will hopefully give you an idea of some of the model information on the saab 9000 cse and cde but feel free to click on the links to get more information.
