Rover Streetwise

Rover has a budget to develop new models so the is desperate to get as much value as out of existing models. The Streetwise is on the Rover 25, which has been on since 1995.

Rover the Streetwise opens up a new market for them and they are positioning the with its robust looks as a vehicle.

Therefore they the Rover 25 to gym (and a plastic to create a new niche model. The is the Streetwise with muscular SUV But as we all know looks can be deceiving.

to Rover the Streetwise, with its big bumpers, roof rails and suspension, is an urban on-roader. And it is not a

But what is an urban on-roader Well, it is just another PR and marketing phrase to describe a car is able to tackle everyday conditions, nothing more, less.

So in short it is a normal car – full stop.

As mentioned the Streetwise has some SUV but doesn#39;t have any kind of setup. It features large and 16-inch wheels and raised for greater ground clearance and a viewpoint.

For extra toughness and it has robust moulded bumpers, protectors and rubbing strips all in a dark grey-grained finish.

roof bars rounds of the SUV look and according to Rover it can loads up to 65 kg.

Inside, the Streetwise has its own specially-designed and trim treatment, with front and rear storage individual sports-style seating for Yet it retains a practical and versatile split folding rear squab.

Although the Streetwise#39;s is an updated version of the Rover cabin, it still seems Despite some modern you still get a bit of a 90s feeling and the quality of used is mediocre.

The Streetwise acceptable cabin space but isn#39;t the best in the business. It is not easy to find a comfortable position with the driver#39;s placed too high and the steering a bit low.

As mentioned there are two seats at the back. This funky but some people may it impractical. Fortunately it is still to split the rear seats in a configuration.

The boot is also of reasonable

Standard equipment includes:

electric windows in the front

heated side mirrors

front and rear

A sunroof is optional at about R6

At first the Streetwise be available with two engine a 1.4-litre petrol and a 2-litre Both models have manual transmission.

1.4-litre petrol model

0-100km/h: 11

Comibined fuel cycle:

2-litre turbo-diesel

Power: at 4 200 r/min

Torque: 240Nm at 2 000

Driving it

Both the and diesel Streetwise models are not when it comes to driving it.

The lacked a bit of oomph especially in with its high altitude. The experience can be described as mediocre but it probably make a nice cruiser.

As expected the 2-litre diesel was a performer but it isn#39;t as poky as the diesel cars. It also was a bit and I won#39;t describe this as rapid.

The overall ride is but composed and it absorbs uneven surfaces with ease. grip is also good and it if the suspension setup does a job.

Body control and is also acceptable but the car#39;s feels a bit on the heavy side, at lower speeds.

the new Rover Streetwise is a bit pricey for it offers but it is an interesting alternative in the competitive hatchback segment.

In of looks it definitely offers unique and image conscious will just love its SUV

Although it is obvious that the looks like some on steroids it is actually quite a look.

The car#39;s technology and quality is a bit dated, but Rover did a job in creating an exciting looking

So if you ever fancied an SUV for its looks but afford it and are also more in parking on pavements rather bundu bashing, it is worth at the Streetwise.
