I make no bones about it — I’m a Kia fan.

As I’ve said many times in the past, the reason Kia is the fastest growing automotive company in the world is because they provide well-built vehicles that consumers want at an affordable price and back it up with the best warranty in the business.

And, they are constantly raising the bar.

The all-new Kia Cadenza flagship sedan is just the latest example.

The 2014 Kia Cadenza is a world-class mid-size luxury sedan in every regard. Without question, it is the next step in Kia’s evolution as the front-wheel drive Cadenza is the most powerful and technologically-advanced vehicle Kia has ever introduced in North America.

The European-styled design is impressive. Designers and engineers were meticulous when it came to attention to detail, such as the soft touch points, chrome details and premium wood accents that let every occupant in the cabin know immediately they are riding in an elegant, premium vehicle.

From a technology standpoint, standard features include an advanced navigation system with SiriusXM Traffic and UVO eServices displayed on a high-resolution 8-inch touch screen.

It also includes a rear-camera display and back up warning system. One of my favorite features is the 550-watt, 12-speaker Infinity surround sound audio system.

All Cadenza vehicles are equipped with heated leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Smart Key keyless entry with push-button start and Bluetooth wireless technology.

Cadenza buyers have the option of adding the Luxury Package, which features a full-length panoramic sunroof with power retractable sunshade, HID headlights with adaptive front lighting, premium Nappa leather seats, 12-way ventilated driver’s seat with seat cushion extension, heated steering wheel, rear outboard heated seats as well as a power rear sunshade.

A Technology Package is also available, adding 19-inch alloy wheels, advanced smart cruise control (which maintains a set distance to the vehicle ahead and helps bring the car to a full stop if necessary), water-repellant hydrophobic front side windows, radar-based Blind Spot Detection system with Lane Change Assist, and Lane Departure Warning system.

The five-passenger Cadenza (with a base price starting at $35,100) is powered by a 3.3-liter V-6 engine the produces 293 horsepower and 255 lbs.-ft. torque. Requiring regular unleaded gasoline, it is mated to six-speed automatic transmission that includes a Sportmatic manual shift mode and paddle shifters flanking the leather and wood-wrapped steering wheel. It has an EPA fuel economy rating of 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway.

In addition to being covered by the best warranty in the industry, the Cadenza also comes with complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first five factory scheduled service appointments (3-years/37,500 miles).

From a performance standpoint, the Cadenza is spot-on with plenty of power, nimble handling and an exceptional ride.

For those in the market for mid-size luxury sedan, the Kia’s 2014 flagship Cadenza is a must for the test drive list.
