Review: Mercedes-Benz A Class 2013

For those of you who remember the previous The Mercedes-Benz A Class, which by the way had nothing wrong with it as a hatch, but didn#8217;t exactly have an appeal nor the great design expected from the German manufacturer, you#8217;re in for a big surprise. The 1 Series from BMW and the A3 from Audi and the Golf GTI from VW are also in for a big surprise, as the time has come for a very strong competitor to end their domination over the premium small hatchback category.

My first impressions when I saw this car was like: Hello Merc, as it certainly screams Mercedes-Benz beautiful design, with all the elegant, yet sportive elements you would expect from an AMG kit fitted car, I must say that Mercedes-Benz did a great job designing this car, but I can#8217;t really say the same about the back, as it looks just normal and out-of-place if compared with the remaining beautiful lines of the car.

One particular feature that I loved about this car was the spike-styled new grill, it’s so sparkly and glamorous, and I can imagine how the driver in the car in front me must have felt when he saw that front end in his rear view mirror.

The interior of this car is where all the magic happens, and what an interior it is! All A-Series cars come fitted with tablet style display, easily controlled with a swivel wheel. it controls all the media in the car which includes USB, radio, DVD with disc changer and lets you connect your phone via bluetooth, I couldn#8217;t find any GPS functions in the car I tested for some reason.

The interior is made of a special fabric which comes finely stitched in red covering the seats and the inside of the doors. That gives you a feeling of luxury and sportiness which I didn’t find in the competitive cars. I personally fell in love with the AC vents which looked particularly beautiful with sportive red trim and beautiful design.

This small car is very safe to drive, it’s packed with 7 airbags, has some special features that will prevent an accident from happening by controlling your brakes when you#8217;re too close to another car. The car also gives you visual and sound warnings when you have other cars around or in the blind zone of the mirror. The A Class includes a smart camera for reversing, plus a front and a rear sensors.

This particular model is using a 2.0-litre engine, generating 208bhp, and trust me, that’s a lot for a car of this size and since it’s the Sport version of the A Class, the transmission is the sport optimized. Which results in a rather rough, uncomfortable ride experience, but in the same time helps with the cornering and keeps the car stable and steady at all times.

The engine is turbocharged, and this car is truly fast, it does an acceleration: 0-60 mph in 6.6 sec, with a 7-speed automatic gearbox, which also gives you the option to change gears in F-1 Style pedals, adding manual control to your driving experience.

You can get the car at Mercedes-Benz Kuwait dealer for 11,900 KD but you#8217;ll have to pay an extra 400 KD if you wanted the panoramic sunroof which I think is a very good price for a luxurious sportive vehicle like the A-Class. You can choose from many different colors like Blue, Red, Black, Silver and Brown.
