Proton Satria

the overall comments is.

Name: Satria GTi ( It means Warrior, derived from the Malay language) I don’t know whats GTi.

Intro: This Malaysian made car is one of the two best ever Malaysian made car. This car comes second, one step back after the Proton Perdana (Prime).

It’s design: Hatchback, New sporty look. When

I compared my First edition of Gti to the new ones, there is a change on the Sticked-on Logos Satria Gti, 16 Valve at the back just right above the bumper. This car comes with a back spoiler and sportish skirting too.

Sleek, aerodimentional, lowered. Double PipeExhaust.

Rims and Tyres: As from my view as i bent down to look at it, the tyre is by Michelin (MXF Sport, at around 205 Width) and the rims are by JRD, a local(Malaysia) rim producer.

Safety: It comes with an air bag on the driver’s seat and the side doors are reinforced. Optional to include another air bag on the front passenger seat. Also comes with frontseat seatbelts and backseat seatbelts.

Alarm fitted too. The brakes are ABS assisted.

Spaciousness: The two front seats are very comfortable. It is spacious enough from top of the head to the bottom of your feet. You might even have enough space at the front (below your legs) to place your groceries.

It’s almost like a first class airplane seat.

The seats are very flexible and adjustable. I even tried driving once with the seat adjusted all to the back and laid down. It’s almost like a sleeping bed. Since the shape of the seat is unique, especially on the seat where your bottoms sits

(its design makes it slant horizontally inwards at around 20% degrees.) So, i’ve expereince dropping some coins out of my pockets onto the floor mat.

At the back, it’s somehow rather different. You have to actually squeeze yourself at the back. I think it’s more suitable to seat one person rather than two.

I usually place all my bags and files after college at the back seat. Hardly anyone sits at the back.

The boot it quite large. It can fit 2 large Samsonite bags and a cooler box.

Interiorly: The speedometer on the dashboard is really cool, and it’s backlit with glowing blue during the night.

I also came to know that the CD changer in the car was by Clarion. It’s rather quite sensitive on the lens but it’s good.

It comes with steel pedal on all three leg controls(brake, accelerator, clutch). Just make sure when you get your car, the pedals have the word ‘GTi’ and it’s screwed correctly. I got one of my pedals screwed it upside down.

The seat is very comfortable. Given the Recaro silver seat, i wouldn’t complain about it.

The gear knob is really beautiful. It’s Aluminuim!

There is another thing which i have to comment about – The dashboards and the armrest. It really sucks because it’s quite plasticky. It falls off one by one after 2 years.

The lights at the top are somehow rather poor in lighting.

There is also a pop-out can holder right below the air-conditioners output. Just right to place my beer. (Don’t worry, i don’t drink and drive. I’ll use the holder when i’m a passenger)

Proton Satria

Handling: It is fitted with a large power steering and the handling is very smooth and easy. The grip is smooth and soft to the touch, but i’m not pretty sure whether it is PVC or Leather.

Ride is quite comfortable and not much of a noise. (when i say it’s comfortable, i mean Excellent actually. The roads in my place are poorly maintained so you’ll got lotsa potholes and uneven roads.)

Service: I’m not sure how is it in UK but the service centre here in my place is really lousy. I’ve once waited for my car 3 hours for it to be checked and serviced. And guessed what? The workers spend most of their time shaking legs and chatting among themselves in a canteen rather than servicing the cars. Seems to me like they are chatting 90% and doing their job 10%.

This is what i’m really dissapointed about.

Overall Comment: This car is sportish, fast and it has a realy powerful engine, the 1.8 litre accelerates from 0-100kmh in just 7 secs!

There’s no road in my place long enough to test the top speed of this car.

The engine roars like tiger! I actually tried stepping on the accelerator on gear one to 65kmh, with no problem at all.

The fuel consumption isn’t as scary as the 1.5 litre Proton Wira which i previously had.

The handling of it is superb, thanks to the Lotus tuned suspension and other parts. But if you have the money, go for this car, change the interiors, and modify the exteriors. remember, but please. leave the engine alone. ok?

I’m proud that my country is able to produce such a car, but i would still prefer to see it much better in quality wise.

If you want an official info about it, why not go to :¤tScene=0807¤tButton=8
