It was a sunny afternoon, while I was designing a for one of my customers, I suddenly received a call one of my old friends to meet up. He had bought a new car  Well, new in the sense that the car is than a year old.

So I it new. Guess what car it is. It is other than the new and popular Saga FLX 1.6 SE

We proceeded for a test drive our casual chit chat at Cafe, Sungai Dua, Exterior wise, the Proton FLX 1.6 SE is refined, with original brown colour bodykit and inch 8 spoke alloy which transforms the Saga normal to sporty. After exploring the interior of the I finally started to drive the Saga FLX 1.6 SE. The car moved effortlessly as as I stepped on the gas pedal.

The gas pedal and the pedal are heavier compared to closest rival, Myvi. though it is heavier, the pedal me a precise control on the acceleration. was smooth, thanks to the Continuously Transmission (CVT) that smooth and jerk-less gear

CVT transmission is being widely in many high end vehicles as Honda Civic and Toyota Altis due to infinity gear and less power loss gives the car better acceleration less fuel wastage. Saga FLX 1.6 SE is with CVT that gives us 2 for driving, normal Drive and (Stepped Auto)SAT mode. I both modes.

Drive mode gave me a gear changing experience and I am with it. SAT mode on the other gives us 5-speed automatic and more powerful acceleration. SAT mimics a 5-speed automatic which delays the gear time, thus gives the car revving RPM before changing to the gear.

D Mode and SAT Mode in Saga FLX 1.6 SE

I managed to push the car to the max by the gas pedal with Drive and SAT mode. SAT mode gives me the acceleration but with jerking feeling as we can feel very the gear changing. The power of the a CamPro IAFM, 4 Cylinder, 16V that offers 108 Hp @ 5750RPM 4000RPM gave me an impressive experience.

We started to feel the pick up once the RPM hit above 4000RPM. Vios which gives an acceleration at the beginning of 1000RPM to then the car loses it#8217;s At above 4000RPM, the Saga FLX 1.6 CamPro engine was roaring but at noise level.

The engine doesn#8217;t sound harsh. it sounded like a turbo engine

Saga FLX 1.6 SE gives a very and solid steering feeling. The is heavier compared to Myvi and but we can sense the stability and feel when driving at high My friend told me that the car handle very well at corners at fast speeds.

I didn#8217;t get to try that out because are no sharp and fast corners that area where I was out the car. I proceeded to drive the car USM compound to test out the suspension and corner turn

The MacPherson with Stabiliser bar on Proton FLX 1.6 SE was as rigid as Myvi#8217;s, the car bumpy when I drove bumps.  Sudden cornering slow speed (30km/h) create much body to the car and the car is still on to the road confidently. to Proton Ride Handling handling of Proton Saga FLX 1.6 great and gives us confidence.
