Toyota Sprinter Marino

The Toyota Sprinter Marino is a four-door hardtop version of the GT-APEX Trueno produced between 1992 – 1998 for sale in the Japanese Domestic Market. Unlike the less powerful models the GT model has twin exhaust pipes, identical to GT-APEX Trueno 20V 4AGE models and has an interior identical to that of the AE100 series Toyota Sprinter GT-APEX Trueno. The Marino is a common sight in New Zealand, because of the country’s high volumes of imported vehicles and was discontinued in 1998. See The solution to

American Fried Rice as served by Black Canyon Coffee

I don’t recognize the dish as especially American from my time living there. I wonder what makes it such in the eyes of the Black Canyon menu planners. The fried egg, the raisins?

Definitely not the cocktail sausages split open at the end. I think this counts as a culinary cliche in the same vein as dishes labeled California contain avocado and dishes labeled Hawaiian contain pineapple. Can you suggest other culinary cliches? Whatever.

It tasted acceptable when fortified with some chili sauce and is reasonably priced at 55B. But definitely not the Thai food people comment about.

Fiat 850 Coupe in Bangkok

Lovely old Fiat 850 coupe in the car park of my local supermarket on Wednesday night. It looks in great condition. Note the vanity license plate with the 850 serial. I think it is been resprayed recently as it has no badges.

I hope I can take some better pictures in the day time.

Special Branch

I’m told this is a police vehicle from the Special Branch. I don’t know if the Royal Thai Police Special Branch has the same duties as the organization with the same name in the British Police.

Motor Caravan

This is the first truck-based motor caravan (RV, motorhome) I have seen in Thailand. It’s coachbuilt on a Hino Dutro chassis-cab. It still has a temporary white-on-red license plate.

Computerized Sewing Machine

For embroidering logos on clothing. It’s a clever combination of computer and traditional technology. It’s fun to watch it at work.

2007-05-30 IMG_6849 Pose de faux-cils

Fake eyelashes being stuck 1 by 1. I was told they last around 2 to 3 weeks, provided you don’t wash your face as I do :D.

MG B in Bangkok

I never know what will show up outside my local supermarket. In this case a good looking early 1960’s MG B convertable.

Mystery Car in Rachada, Bangkok

I don’t know what this is. Mitsubishi Diamante? Observed outside my local supermarket in Rachada, Bangkok.

I know this as a Fiat 131. Is Brava a special line, perhaps to compete with the VW Golf GTI in the 1980s?
