Planet Hyundai Centennial receives honor for service

In the car business, the Customer Service Index is considered the ultimate rating system for service and sales. And Planet Hyundai Centennial has plenty to celebrate since the dealership had the third quarter’s highest ranking CSI for service of the region among 161 Hyundai dealerships in 13 states.

The 20-question survey includes key elements such as the service adviser, technicians and the facility.

This is everything for those of us who work in service, said Corey Corcoran, a service adviser who has worked for Planet Hyundai for 10 years. There is so much involved in this assessment of our operation and we’re very proud of the award. Out of 161 stores, only one gets it, and that’s us.

He said customer service is vitally important, especially in the service department where the adviser needs the aplomb to help customers both in person and over the telephone.

You definitely have to be knowledgeable when working in the service department. Everything about these cars changes on an annual basis and we have to be on our toes at all times. When a customer needs help, we need to have immediate answers and I think the CSI rating is proof that we know what we’re doing, Corcoran said.

Being a service adviser surely offers a sense of satisfaction, he said. When someone is having a problem and we are immediately able to find the answer, I would have to say that we all get a great sense of satisfaction out of our work. This is not a job for just anyone and we need to undergo continual studying. We have to stay current and attend new classes every year.

There’s no let-up in the knowledge that we must absorb.

The honor has generated praise from everyone in the dealership.

These guys have done a tremendous job, said Chance Slingerland, who serves as the service director for both Planet Hyundai Centennial and Planet Hyundai Sahara.

Sales consultant Todd Fowler said a good service department is vital for those working in the sales department.

I need to be confident that my customers will be taken care of after the sale, said Fowler, a 13-year veteran of the car business. Without people like the ones we have at Planet Hyundai Centennial, we’re in trouble.
