China-made Peugeot 3008 debuts at the Guangzhou Auto Show

Chrome is King in China! This is the new China-made Peugeot 3008 SUV, which comes with a completely different front compared with the European 3008. We think the Chinese front is much better, more shiny and more impressive.

The Peugeot 3008 is made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture, it will be launched on the Chinese car market early next year.

Chrome roof rails, chrome all around the windows, shiny alloys, this indeed, is a car for China! Lone engine at launch will be a 163hp 1.6 turbo, price will start just under 200.000 yuan. Dongfeng-PSA is also working to get an older 147hp 2.0 under the bonnet, which will bring the price down to some 170.000 yuan.

Very good interior here, again different than the European version. Expensive looking wood and some more chrome. Pup-up screen for the GPS seems on the small side.

All China-made Peugeot 3008 will be equipped with a head-up display system, designed for safer travel through the night.

Peugeot Cross 207 launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show

The Peugeot Cross 207 has been launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show, price starts at 74.800 yuan and ends at 105.800 yuan. The Cross 207 is based on the good old Peugeot 207 that is still in production in China, made by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. The Cross 207 is the second crosscar from Peugeot in a short time, back in February the brand launched the Cross 307, based on the good old Peugeot 307.

The Peugeot Cross 207 got the usual cross-treatment with extra black plastic around the bumpers and under the doors, a roof rack and some ‘Cross 207′ badges here and there. Engines are the same as in the regular 207: a 1.4 with 76hp and 120nm or from a 1.6 with 106hp and 142nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic.

Transporting Peugeot automobiles, the Chinese Way

A giant auto transporter seen north of the sixth Ring Road in Beijing. The truck carries 14 Peugeot automobiles on top and some Citroens below. The upper deck is made wider and longer to accommodate the extra cars.

Construction is very simple, just some welded steel rods and plates that look like they will break when the truck hits a big bump.

This sort of transport is officially very forbidden in China but in reality nobody cares, not at least the police. Earlier on reader Laowei met a similar transport in Xinjiang.

The Peugeot and Citroen vehicles are made by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture and were likely on their way to a distribution area.
