Chapter 17- Why is there Blue Aid under my Ferrari?

On Thursday, 11 2008 someone searching for walla walla, washington#8221; my site and stayed for some While I doubt I was much with their research I they enjoyed the blog.

Why is Blue Kool Aid under my

Several weeks after the day, I noticed a few drops of appeared to be blue Kool-aid on the of the garage. Unfortunately, no matter how I hoped the drips were they were more coolant dripping from the just behind the driver#8217;s There are times when I the dirty, dark concrete A few drops of blue liquid disappear. On the white tiles the were like a neon sign signaling that was wrong.

Strangely, after a days the car stopped leaking Either it healed itself, was out of coolant, or was waiting to surprise me a flood of coolant at the least time.

For many years Barb and I had to visit Walla Walla and the wine country so when the Club offered a trip to Walla I decided it would be a chance to see some great drive some great and visit some great If I spent the summer driving Portland it will be the same over and over. How many can I write about a trip to New to get ice cream or beer? A road of over 600 miles, with a to mingle with a bunch of Ferrari owners in the middle give me a Ferrari experience will be substantially different my hermit like existence. I the only hitch would be for someone to watch the kids for the so I called the host hotel.

#8220;Hi I#8217;d like to a reservation for the 27th and 28th for the Club event.#8221;

#8220;Let#8217;s Their block of rooms are out and there are no other rooms Sorry, good bye.#8221;

Nothing like getting put in place. The other hotel by the club was the Holiday Inn Express. I nothing against Holiday Inn but it seems an inappropriate place to for a Ferrari Club weekend let the first weekend Barb and I had together sans children in years.

Maybe there was a bed and available. A BB would be nice, romantic, and give us a bit of breathing from the other Ferrari Every BB in Walla Walla I was full. I was getting frustrated. I to go on this trip. Barb to go on this trip. Holiday Inn we come. Sold out! The Inn in Walla Walla was sold What was going on in Walla that made it so popular?

Eventually I found a place rooms, a yoga spa about miles outside of town. I a moment and when the screen one of the few remaining rooms had been I grabbed my credit card and a room. When I told she thought it was perfect. So, our summer trip was planned. We were to drive the Ferrari about 300 into the middle of Washington, wineries, drive on beautiful roads, and enjoy ourselves.

A few days before Barb and I to leave for Walla Walla, I to have Tonkin give the car a up, especially the cooling system, as we going to be putting upwards of 600 on it in one weekend.

There was one complication.

It was inflicted.

On Sunday June 22, a few days after the RTGT track day and a few days before the Walla trip I decided to the lower plastic piece covers the steering column. It had scratches near the keyhole. I was this piece to be pretty to refinish. It is large but without dents or complex surface The car was going in for service the following day but I I could refinish this and have it back in the car in an hour or

Not all the interior pieces of the 355 wanted to be As I was removing the sticky stuff the plastic I thought #8220;too bad was when starting the car, of it is in nice shape.#8221; Then it to melt. It must have made from a formulation of which was different from the air It melted. Not all the way, just It looked like a Martian with tiny river revealing the presence of water.

The went in for service looking I stole it. Tonkin did not have the column surround in stock so I one from Ricambi. I ordered it and added a note begging to ship it soon as possible. two minutes later I received a from one of the guys at Ricambi me know he received the order and was it as we spoke.

The little drips of blue Aid turned out to be from the radiator. Not a leaking hose. It had a tiny in it. My first impulse was to ask Tonkin to some JB Weld on it or send it to a shop to have it brazed. I this impulse and Tonkin nighted a new radiator from I had just spent a bundle of on Ferrari stuff. The service, the radiator was $1,462 and the new steering column was $300. I suppose it was I had already missed my goal of not money on maintenance.
