Honky Says:

Toyota needs to nip this in the bud. They don#8217;t have a spic of sense. This could be the chink in the armor, but they shouldn#8217;t act like bunnies in the jungle.

Marco Says:

Nah, Toyota will probably just change the name if they market it outside of Japan. Otherwise, Spade could become a huge tar baby for them.

John A. Zoidberg Says:

#8220;Spade#8221; is a racial epithet not used much anymore. I was born in the #8217;80s, and I#8217;ve heard #8220;spade#8221; used in ancient TV sitcoms like the Jefferson#8217;s, but I haven#8217;t heard it used in a coon#8217;s age. ;-p

Mah favorit is the Totoya Platana#8230;

The platane is a common tree found lining most countryside roads in France (by order of Napoleon Bonaparte or sum king, to allow travellers to stay in the shadow during their trip). But with the advent of the automobile, it became the deadliest car predator evar#8230; Countles french cars ended wrapped around platane on rainy days following a spirited driving. Alpine (one of the last RWD Renaults) where notorious for their eagerness to kill their driver helped by platanes on such road. (some model even have what appeared to be an ident on the front bumper looking like the official platane impact/most vulnerable point)

Most Japanese product names are beyond #8220;creative.#8221; The best name I had to work on was a Hitachi software product purposely named GRABAS ®.

Even though I explained to management that Grab ass * is a tempting way for an English speaker to pronounce the name GRABAS®, the Japanese demanded to using the name ( grabas#8217; means #8216;helpful#8217; in the dialect of Kyushu in the south of Japan).

#8230;Among the ones that put a smile on our face are the Daihatsu Naked ; Honda That’s ; Isuzu GIGA 20 Light Dump and Mysterious Utility ; Mazda Bongo ; Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear and Pistachio ; Nissan Prairie Joy ; Suzuki Cappucino ; Toyota Deliboy and Toyopet #8230;

Oh how I love Honda. They#8217;re the very best! And it#8217;s not racist because Japan.

MarielCzajkowski Says:

I don#8217;t care what people would think about the stupid name#8212;I like the car. The storage and interior of the Spade are both good#8212; this car deserves to be a Scion.

Enraged by Japan#8217;s naming a car #8220;Spade#8221;, China responds with #8220;Hongqi#8221;. Richard Pryor unavailable for comment
