Morgan Highfield Land Review

There are five engines to choose from when you purchase a Mercedes-Benz E Class Coupe, with all five of them also being available for the E Class Saloon. With petrol engines and diesels available in the range it means there are plenty of options and combinations. All of them offer something decent but there are a couple of standout engines on either side of the petrol/diesel divide, with impressive efficiency being of particular note.

Another of the options requires a bit of work to get the best out of it but once there, is both powerful and quick.

The E Class Coupe also has three different chassis settings which to some degree allow you to personalise the car. Do you want the feel and power of a sports car or the finesse and comfort of a quality grand tourer? Each different set up affects the suspension, throttle response and even the handling of the automatic transmission speed. Are there downsides?

If you choose the sports setting, you sacrifice comfort and the handling isn’t quite as nice but overall the suspension works well and is effective on many different surfaces.

This Mercedes-Benz E Class Coupe as frameless side windows so you may be expecting some noise from the wind. However, this isn’t the case and there are hardly any issues with wind noise. To complement this quietness, the majority of engine options are gentle and smooth.

Some of the bigger diesel options can be a bit rough around the edges when laying down some serious revs but with nice automatic transmission as well, the overall feel is good. There are large wheels on this car and they do create a bit of noise on some road surfaces but nothing to write home about really.

As with some of the other models in this E Class range, there are only two trim packages to choose from, which are the SE and Sport. There is plenty of kit in both, so the fact there are only two options, isn’t disappointing. If you opt for the luxury SE model, you will be rewarded with classy leather upholstery, heated front seats, parking guidance system and climate control. Over on the Sport package, kit includes the likes of improved brakes and sportier suspension as well as a body kit.

Perhaps the icing on the cake is the intelligent lights system with LED daytime lamps and multiple beam patterns.

Customer Review

Although there is sports trim available for this Mercedes E Class Coupe, I bought one because I wanted to travel in style with all the luxury trimmings. I chose one of the smaller engines so whilst the fuel efficiency is effective for running around journeys; it tends to suffer a bit on longer hauls. Regardless of the journey length though, the car is comfortable, which after all is what I really wanted and there is plenty of extra equipment too.

All in all, I am glad I made the purchase!
