The Eunos 500 was initially at the 1991 Tokyo Motor and was based on the Mazda CA platform. [ 4 ] used by the Mazda Capella. [ 5 ] The car full production at the start of with Japanese and Australian models using the Eunos 500 (as they were sold the Eunos brand, and not the Mazda and British models utilizing the Xedos 6 name. [ 12 ] and were claimed to be to do 30-31 miles per gallon [ 13 ] In comparison, the 1.6 litre models had a top of 184#160;km/h (114#160;mph)Template:Convert/track/abbr/on with a transmission, or 175#160;km/h (109#160;mph)Template:Convert/track/abbr/on an automatic. The Eunos 500 used different to the European models. The 1.6 litre was not offered in Japan, with the model instead being a 1.8 K8-ZE V6, [ 14 ] producing 140#160;PS 138#160;hp)Template:Convert/track/abbr/on and having a top speed of (121#160;mph)Template:Convert/track/abbr/on. [ 15 ] The 2 litre V6 was offered in but in a higher state of tune; models produced 160#160;PS 158#160;hp)Template:Convert/track/abbr/on from their engines, [ 14 ] and had a top speed of 205#160;km/h [ 16 ] For 1994, a 1.8 litre straight-four was as the new base model, with a output of 115#160;PS (85#160;kW; [ 17 ] whilst the 1.8 litre V6 was discontinued. [ 18 ] In following Mazda’s decision to axe the brand, [ 19 ] the Eunos 500 was rebranded as the Eunos 500, and remained in under that name 1999. [ 20 ]

Motorsport [edit ]

The Xedos 6 was in the British Touring Car Championship in and 1994. Roger Dowson ran the works Mazda team in (under the Mazda Racing name, [ 21 ] ) with the Xedos 6 the 323F that had been in the previous season. [ 22 ] Patrick drove the Xedos 6 during the taking his first pole at [ 23 ] and three fourth place [ 24 ] [ 25 ] [ 26 ] He finished 15th in the championship, two behind former champion Tim in the works Renault 19. [ 21 ] Mazda classified eighth, and last, in the championship. [ 21 ]

For 1994, Rodger Dowson and Team Dynamics ran the works with David Leslie and Neal being entered in a team, [ 27 ] but the season would to be less successful. Neal was to withdraw from the series suffering injuries from a big in the sixth round at Silverstone. [ 28 ] Leslie withdrew halfway the season due to budgetary problems. [ 29 ] best finishes were a of eighth positions at the first two [ 30 ] [ 31 ] whilst Neal’s was a tenth at [ 32 ] Neal finished 23rd in the level with privateers Thompson and Nigel Smith. Leslie finished 20th. [ 33 ] were classified tenth, and in the manufacturer’s championship. [ 33 ] The Xedos running gear was later in a 323F built for the 1994 FIA Car World Cup and driven by Neal. [ 34 ]
