Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 1.0

Wagon R has been in India since 1999 and has been the third largest selling vehicle from the inventory of Maruti Suzuki. However, after it’s relaunch in 2010 it is nothing like its predecessors, which never really struck a chord with Indian customers. New Wagon R is now referred as #39;The Blue-Eyed Boy#39; in company#39;s campaigns, which is ascribed from its unique blue lens in the front headlamps.

The vehicle has gone through a complete overhaul in terms of interiors, exteriors and instrumentation.

The new Wagon R attracts more customers with an entirely new K-series engine. New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2011 comes with an advanced security system called iCATs, which prevents vehicle theft. Moreover, the vehicle is also offered in its CNG and LPG versions, which is surely going to attract a lot of customers.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Launch History

Suzuki Wagon R entered Indian car market only in 1999, though it was initially launched in Japan in 1993. The initial versions of this car utilised the engine of its contemporary JDM Suzuki Alto, which was similar in dimensions except the height. This car was taller than any other car on road and used to have a straight rear; a design feature that suited the limited parking space and aesthetic sense of Japanese people.

The car was an instant success in Japan and received several facelift in successive years.

Initially, this car used to come with a 660cc, 3 cylinder engine that was replaced by larger 1000cc engine in 1997. It was marketed under the names of Wagon R+ and Solio for a long time in world markets.

In UK, only single variant of this car was available in 2006 that used was packed with 1.3 litre 1289cc petrol engine.

Since its last facelift in 2010, Wagon R cars have gained immense popularity in Indian market. Taller, wider and longer than before, all-new Wagon R was launched in Indian market 23rd April, 2010. A host of improvements in overall styling, security and interiors of the vehicle have completely transformed Wagon R, which once used to be a mere spacious minivan in boxy hatchback design.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Variants

Maruti Suzuki has launched various models of Wagon R in India, such as Vxi, Lxi CNG, Lxi Duo (LPG variant), Lxi and Lx. Although, these models are built using the same KB10 998cc engine, chassis and transmission a lot of differences might be seen in terms of comfort, convenience, styling, security and safety systems. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R prices ranges between Rs.3.36 lacs and Rs.4.2 lacs.
