Submarine The Spy Who Loved Me by AUTOart

As part of now sadly discontinued 007 line of (as of the time of writing that is, 2004) AUTOart released a version of the white Series 1 Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me Roger Moore as James Released in 1977, this in the opinion is one of the best ever films, and 007s white Esprit modified by Q-Branch is one of the of the movie (along with Starr’s fine looking Barbara Bach, as Agent

In the movie, the Lotus has the ability to from sportscar to submarine on the which helps Bond from a pursuing machine-gun Helicopter piloted by an evil intent on ventilating our hero! in submarine mode, the Esprit is and steered by a 4 propeller and twin assembly on the rear of the car, and control is achieved by 4 fins in of the wheels which have retracted up into sealed

Bond even has a small protruding through the roof to through! A six harpoon launcher is between the headlights and twin oil are located behind the flip rear numberplate. In the film, disposed of a pursuing enemy with the help of depth released from under the of the car.

In the movie, the underwater scenes the car were filmed in the Bahamas, it was meant to be off the coast of Sardinia in the At least one Lotus Esprit was converted by the producers of the film a mini-submarine. It had working propellers, and fins, but was not watertight inside.

A diver/stuntman operated the submerged complete with his breathing Apparently it was difficult to control as it’s road car shape in it’s intended environment produce downforce to keep the car on the caused it to adopt a nose position with ease, resulted in the nose grazing the of the sea floor quite often. can be seen in the film as the Lotus the bottom with it’s frequently as it motors along!

The abandoned Lotus submarine was discovered a few years ago in the Bahamas and is now I in a movie car museum in the UK.

AUTOart did a nice job on this of the Esprit sub, complete it’s rudders, engines, launcher, periscope and fins. and engine detail is good but not but overall there is little with this model. A have I think for Bond and it gets 7/10 overall.
