Kia Sportage

Today on our 2013 Kia Sportage, we#39;ll be test fitting the Yakima Stickup two bike, hitch mounted bike rack, part number Y02420. To begin our test fit, we#39;ll slide that shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of the hitch, line up the pin hole, and thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tightening it with a wrench. Now, we#39;ll go over a few clearance measurements. We have about 11 inches of ground clearance.

The closest point of the bike to the rear of our Sportage is about an inch and a half. We#39;ve added about 11 inches to the overall length of our Kia Sportage. We pull the red know at the base of the bike rack and allow it unfold. With the bike rack in this position, we have full access to our rear hatch. We#39;ll pull the red know to raise up our center mast and we#39;ll raise up our frame hooks and under a wheel strap.

We#39;ll grab our bike and place it onto our bike rack, securing it first with the frame hook.

Today on our 2013 KIA Sportage, well be test fitting the Rampage Trailblade Off Road Windshield Wipers using part numbers RA18000 and RA24000. Well begin here on the driver#39;s side by removing the previous windshield wiper. In order to remove the previous windshield wiper, we need to push in on the tab and slide our windshield wiper out of place. Well take our new windshield wiper and put it in place. Well push on it until we hear it click.

Well move to the passenger side and repeat this process. These wiper blades provide superior visibility in rain, snow, and sleet. The dual-blade design is perfect for off-road conditions.

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118371 on a 2000 Kia Sportage. All right, we are inside the rear of the vehicle here, and we are going to go ahead and locate the plug-ins for the wiring harness. As you can see, looking at the drivers side, we have got this compartment, and the wiring harness is actually located directly behind there on both sides of the vehicle.

We can go ahead and remove the door cover. And, as you can see, the wiring harness is connected to the back of the tail light assembly here. So what we can do is go ahead and unplug it.

There is a little push button here right at the bottom and it pulls straight out.

Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 90186 from Hidden Hitch on a 2000 Kia Sportage. This installation will also apply to Draw-Tite part number 36266. We are underneath the vehicle now, and we are going to go ahead and point out the attaching points for the hitch. Looking at the passengers side frame rail, you can see there is a hole here on the inboard side of the frame.

That is going to provide the forwardmost attaching point. And then, on this tow hook here, we are actually going to drill a hole and make that the second attaching point.

Kia Sportage Questions and Answers

For a roof rack compatible for your 2011 Kia Sportage with a naked roof I would recommend the following products: Yakima Round Bars # Y00409 Q99 Q Clips # Y00699 Q83 Q Clips # Y00683 Yakima Q Towers # Y00124 Regardless if you have flush rails or a totally naked roof the above mentioned roof rack components will work for you.

All of the trailer hitches available for your 2013 Kia Sportage will have the same visibility at the rear of the vehicle. You will only see the receiver under the bumper fascia, so visibility will not be an issue. I own a 2013 Kia Sportage and I had the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, part # C13120, installed. I have attached a photo of the Curt hitch installed on my Sportage for you to check out.

The hitch has served well and would be an excellent option for your vehicle. The main difference

The Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes, part # RM-2000-1, can be used with any of a number of trailer brake controllers. This dolly includes a 7-way blade style trailer connector. We generally recommend a proportional type controller as these give the smoothest and quickest braking while also providing the least amount of wear on both the vehicle and trailer brakes. The linked article covers much background information about the various types of brake controllers and the advantages of

You can use Curt trailer wiring harness # C56175 for your 2008 Kia Sportage. This harness gets the power for the trailer lights from the tail light wiring on the vehicle. You will need a circuit tester to test the wiring on the vehicle to connect to the converter.

If you need a circuit tester you can use # 3808, On the Curt harness the white wire grounds to a bare metal surface. Red is brake lights, yellow is left turn signal and brown is running lights. On the right side you will just need t

Yes, SportRack roof rack # SR1009 is listed as a fit for your 2006 Kia Sportage with the factory side rails that run front to back. The mounting feet on this rack will clamp around the side rails on the vehicle. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.

Trailer wiring harness # 118526 fits all models of the 2013 Kia Sportage including SX models. The trim level of the vehicle in this case does not affect what wiring harnesses will fit. I have included links to the instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you.

If you look at the video I have linked showing a typical installation of the wiring harness # 118526, at about the 3:50 minute mark our installer begins running the wiring through a hole and out to the bottom of the vehicle. Normally the 4-Way stays inside the cargo area but if you wanted to you could try to run the 4-Way through this same hole. It may require additional sealant to keep out fumes.

Then you could use mounting brackets # 18144 and # 18136 to secure the 4-Way to the hitch.

For a 2012 Kia Sportage EX you can use trailer wiring harness # 118526. This is a powered converter that plugs in line with the tail light wiring. It does require a direct connection to the battery as well to power the trailer lights.

I have included a link to the installation instructions and a link to a video showing a typical installation. I have also included a link to an FAQ article on routing the power wire for you.

I checked with Thule and the largest size cargo box they offer as a confirmed fit for your 2011 Kia Sportage is the Large size. You could use a box like the Thule Sonic Large Rooftop Cargo Box # TH634B. The only problem with this box is that the internal dimensions are not big enough to accommodate 185 centimeter skis.

This box is only 160 centimeters long internally. I believe your best option would be to get ski carrier like the Thule Pull Top Slide-Out Ski and Snowboard Carrier # TH927

The 2001 Kia Sportage was offered with a variety of roof configurations: naked roof (no side rails or crossbars), front-to-back side rails only, and front-to-back roof tracks. I can give you cost-effective recommendations for all possibilities. I checked an online copy of the owners manual to try to confirm the roof weight-carrying limit, but this information was not provided; you may want to check your manual or consult with a local Kia dealership to confirm how much weight can be carried sa

On the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118371 for your 2002 Kia Sportage the end with the trailer connector will be stored inside the vehicle until needed. When needed, it will be routed through the rear door and to the trailer, using caution to not get the wiring involved with the door latch when closing the door. After the door is closed you can pull out more wire if needed, the wire is protected by the vehicles door seals.

The Yakima LockUp Hitch Lock and Cable, # Y07238, will work with the Rhode Gear hitch mounted bike racks. Yakima was the manufacturer of Rhode Gear bike racks, but they are stopping the Rhode Gear line and replacing it with the Prorack line. If you were looking to purchase the Rhode Gear Highway 2 Bike Rack, # RG8015220, then you will be interested in the Prorack 2 Bike Rack, # PR8062403.

Yes, most of the Hidden Hitch # 87612 that you referenced will be concealed once installed on your 2013 Kia Sportage. The only thing you will really see is the hitch opening, the cross tube will be out of plain sight. We have not had the chance to install this hitch on a Sportage yet so we do not have install pictures that I could share with you, but we have installed the Curt Hitch # C12030 on a Sportage and I attached a pic we took of the vehicle after we installed the hitch to show about h

It will be hidden but you can reach up behind the grille to access the wiring plug with base plates # 522113-1 installed. You can see the finished installation in the pictures in the instructions which I have linked for you. In addition to the base plates you will also need a compatible tow bar.

The most popular option is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. You will also need safety cables # RM-643. For a lighting kit you could use something like # RM-2100 if you will not be towing the vehicle very of

I spoke with my contact at Rhino-Rack and although they do not have any specific information on interference with the sunroof opening, they did tell me that as long as the sunroof did not extend past the height of the factory side rails when open, you should not have an issue opening the sunroof with the SRB roof rack installed on your 2011 Kia Sportage. If your sunroof does extend past the height of the side rails, then the roof rack and any roof mounted accessories will likely interfere wi

We have installation videos for Draw-Tite hitch # 36266 and for Hidden Hitch # 90186 but not for Curt hitch # 13537. I have included the video for you to view. It will not be exactly the same but very similar. I have also linked the instructions for each hitch for you to view.

If you go with the Curt hitch I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring use # 118371. I have linked instruction

The Rola Pursuit cargo carrier, # 59150, is designed to fit on crossbars that measure 23 to 32 inches apart on center. And the carrier will mount to crossbars up to 3-1/4 inches wide. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If your Sportage has side rails that run front to back, but no crossbars that run side to side, you can add some compatible bars by using # 59808.

I have included a link to the installation instructions for the roof rack as well.

For your 2011 Kia Sportage with a naked roof, or a roof without OEM front-to-back rails, the Rola Sport Series Roof Rack # 59849 you referenced would not be a compatible fit as it needs front-to-back side rails to be mounted on your vehicle. I recommend the Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack System that includes (2) round 58 inch crossbars # Y00409, (2) Q99 Q Clips # Y00699, (2) Q83 Q Clips # Y00683, and (4) Yakima Q Towers Roof Rack Feet # Y00124. While I do not have a video showing the installation o

The Rhino-Rack SRB roof rack, # SRB001-SILV, is compatible with many Yakima and Thule roof mounted accessories. The important factor to consider when choosing a roof rack system or accessories is whether or not the mounting feet or clamps of the accessories will fit around the crossbars of the roof rack. The crossbars that come with the SRB roof rack are 3-1/8 inches wide by 1-1/4 inch tall. Yakima and Thule design some of their roof mounted accessories to only fit Yakima round and Thule squ

The 2008 Kia Sportage uses 921 reverse light bulbs. I do have an option for a backup alert but one that fits as a replacement in the bulb socket is not available for the Sportage. Instead, you can use # BK97DB.

This is a surface mount unit that wires into a reverse light wire. You can mount it underneath the vehicle on the frame or any flat surface that is convenient for you.

The Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 2104-1, will work with your Falcon 2 tow bar as long as it still has the quick disconnect base assembly. This is the crossbar that runs from one arm of the tow bar to the other. The lower brackets from the base assembly will bolt to the Roadmaster XL base plates and provide an attachment point for the base assembly of the Falcon 2 tow bar. Roadmaster states that the average dealer install time for this item should be approximately 3 hours, but that could vary

The spoiler, although small, will prevent you from using a trunk mount bike rack. The spoiler is not rated for the stress associated with carrying a bike on a trunk mount rack. To carry bikes on your 2012 Kia Sportage you will need to install a trailer hitch like # 87612 and use a hitch mount bike rack.

For a 3 bike rack I recommend the Swagman XP, # S64910-2. This is a 3 bike rack with a single arm and rotating cradles which is compatible with many types of bikes without the use of an adapte

Yes, the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX2710, for your 2006 Kia Sportage is compatible with the Blue Ox Aventa Tow Bar, # BX7335, without the need of any additional adapters. Before you flat tow your vehicle, I recommend checking your owners manual to ensure that your vehicle can be flat towed and if any additional items are needed such as a lube pump or modification of the drive shaft. A few other components that you may be interested in to complete your flat towing set up are safety cables, l

The installation instructions for installing a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 on a vehicle are very universal. So we may not have instructions that are specific to your 2012 Kia Sportage, but I can give you installation instructions that will apply to your vehicle. The first thing you will need if you do not have one already is a 4-way at the rear of your vehicle, for that I would recommend you get a Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118526. Check out the installatio

Roadmaster makes a base plate, part # 1621-1 that when combined with their Tow Bar Adapter, part # RM-032, would work with your Demco Excali-bar tow bar. There is not an adapter available that would allow the Demco tow bar to work with the Blue Ox base plate # BX2716 that you mentioned. According to Remco Towing, our online resource for determining if a vehicle is capable of being flat towed, if your Sportage is a 2WD model with manual transmission it is capable of being flat towed as is w

To carry 4 bikes at the rear of your 2009 Kia Sportage your best option would be to use a receiver hitch and a hitch mounted bike rack. We do not carry the Rhode Gear Pro Revolution Elite bike rack because it is a 4 bike trunk mount rack and the propensity for damage to a vehicle trunk or hatch is too great with that many bikes loaded on the rack and extended that far back. The receiver hitch I would recommend for your vehicle is the Hidden Hitch Class III Trailer Hitch, # 87447. This hitc

The Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch, # 75717, will fit all models of the 2011 Kia Sportage, except the SX models. As long as you have a Base model, EX or LX model, you will have no problems installing this hitch on your Sportage. If you do have an SX model, you would want to use the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13120.

I added links to the installation instructions for each of these hitches for you to review prior to purchase. If you will be towing with your Kia Sportage, you will

I absolutely understand about wanting to go a different route other than something that mounts on the roof for your 2011 Kia Sportage. I would definitely go with a Class III trailer hitch, like # 87612. (With the Curt hitch you would have to use a stabilization strap # 18050 for non-trailer loads per Curts warranty requirements.) In addition to more capacity, you will have a wider range of options as far as what carriers you could use and a Class III hitch is more versatile all around when co

As long as the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118401, is installed correctly on your 2009 Kia Sportage EX V6, which is a simple plug-in connector and ground the white wire installation, and you are getting power to the 4-Way connector, the problem is probably not with the vehicle. To be sure you can disconnect the t-one connectors from the vehicle and check them making sure that there are no bent pins inside the connector causing a short. When you put the connectors back together, make s

From what we have learned, if you have an SX Turbo model 2012 Kia Sportage, there is some exhaust contact. There are a few different things you can try to reduce or eliminate rattle if it happens at all. I have included a link to an FAQ article that covers the various methods.

I have also included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you plan on doing some towing, the recommended parts are: Ball mount, # 2923 Pin and Clip, # PC3 1-7/8 inch ball, # 19260 2 inch ball, # 192
