Kia Soul 1.6 crdi auto 2009

I will keep it short and sweet; after trying to find an ideal car as I have back problems big time I have tried the 4×4 s. I was even thinking of a transit van because of seat height. I sat in this dare I say almost ideal car, although I raised the driver’s seat 1ins higher and 2ins back. I will have this dream of a car for a few years. Just to let you know I have had 8 cars in 3 years, car dealers must love me going in, it’s cost a nice sum in the past.

Mr Arnold Clark don’t think I’ll be back I’ll be going to Springside Motors Ayrshire from now on where I got my Kia soul 1.6 crdi auto. In a few years time I’ll be going back for a new one. So pleased.

Totally agree, my best car ever, I’m 59. I Have severe back problems too. This car is a pleasure to drive so comfortable. Less stops to stretch and exercise before continuing my journey. Have a Cocktail Orange Kia Soul Crdi 2. The car looks brill, drives brill, fun fun fun good economy, a best ever buy.

Would buy again. Next time tho will be auto as all my joints give me so much gip now. Needs a smaller diesel engine in the future for it to have reduced emissions and a lower tax band. That would be the icing on the cake for me.

Great dealer support as well from Gravells, fantastic service, great warranty. Mines an 09 model with 28k only. Problems to date: software update, minor oil leak, air con packed up (condenser).

All sorted after a quick phone call. Next car, the next Kia Soul. Tip: buy nearly new and haggle for a good deal, always works for me. – Stuart Rogers from Carmarthenshire

Kia Soul 2 2009

Largely OK but a few niggles. Good: Seating, room in the back, mpg largely as expected after using it as a work vehicle with many local trips and also on long journeys. The Soul 2 is rather basic, but the price was good. The Dealership is excellent and servicing honest and reasonably priced.

Easy access front and rear. The boot is small but this is what you pay for very generous rear seating. With the seats down it has been heavily used for bulky items and has been very reliable mechanically.

Not so good: Paint degredation on the lower rear doors (caused by mud/debris thrown off the road and resolved under warranty. Aircon fluid had to be restocked due to a fault (again under warranty). Rear view when parking is very poor due to thick (wrap round) rear quarter and small rear window. 1.6 petrol engine is noisy at over 60mph and there is transmission noise too, which makes motorway journeys tiresome.

As I bought one of the first batch on the market it came without a rear parcel shelf, which took 5 months to arrive. It was flimsy, sagged in the middle and bounced when moving. It eventually was put away as it bowed when parked on a sunny day (yes really, there have been some) and didn’t fit properly afterwards. Overall: Reliable, generously sized and reasonably economical.

I am considering buying another, but with a sunroof (a personal preference as I don’t like aircon). As the Soul is now over 4 years in production any obvious flaws should have been resolved. It would appear that most negative comments centre on the dealer, which is not the case in my area.

I hope this is useful.
