The Kia Cerato is a product of a Korean carmaker, KIA Motors. It is a compact car produced by the South Korean automaker Kia Motors since 2003. In 2008, the Cerato was replaced by the Kia Forte, however, the Cerato name continued on in some markets.

The first generation (LD) of the Cerato was manufactured in South Korea in 2003, sharing the same platform at the Hyundai Elantra (XD) and using Hyundai’s Beta II (G4GC) (CVVT-enabled) engine. In North America, the Spectra name was used when introduced for the 2004 model year, with Spectra5 designed as the hatchback. In Europe, the Cerato was replaced by the Kia Cee’d.

The second generation Kia Cerato was launched in South Korea in late 2008 under the name Kia Forte, which name has become common in most international markets. The Cerato name has been retained in some markets, such as Australia. In Singapore, the second generation model is given the name Kia Cerato Forte.

It was made and designed for economy both at purchase and usage. It is flexible and kind to your budget. Launched in 2009, the Cerato holds its own when it comes to power and torque.

It has a torque of 182Nm at 3,500rpm and produces power of 101kW at 6,000rpm. Its weight to power ratio is 12.8kg/kW, making it a relatively light vehicle, which easily responds to torque and the power of the engine.

It has an efficient fuel consumption, going with the size of the car and engine. It consumes 8.5 litres per 100km, making it very economic.

Cerato’s standard features include air conditioning, air bags, power windows and mirrors and a CD player and radio. It also comes with remote central locking and cruise control as an option for the later grades.

The Cerato is a medium size 5 seater that has most of the things that canny buyers are looking for.

Its engine can easily pull 1294kg body weight without too much effort and is well matched to the 5 speed manual gearbox, which does everything that was asked of it during testing.

It has incremental gains on quality, comparable to some Japanese brands, a demonstration by the Korean car manufacturer of continual development of the brand to meet market standards. Its engine can be compared to the Hyundai Elantra, a 2.0 litre engine with 101kW power.

The clutch operation is light and easy to use and its high pedal engagement point is something that a new buyer will eventually adjust to.

The rear seats are 60/40 split allowing for greater load carriage. One feature differentiating the Cerato is that the release catches for the rear seats are operated from within the boot. This allows one to release the seats without having to go around to release the seats from the inside.

Cerato is a benchmark vehicle in terms of value for the medium car class and allows used car buyers to buy a new car at ease.
