How the Hyundai Tucson stacks up against the Honda CR-V

by Nigel Cooper, Topanga CA

Cost

The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs about the same to get the Honda to the dealership as the Hyundai Tucson. The Hyundai Tucson isn’t much less expensive than the Honda CR-V when it comes to MSRP.

Regarding purchase cost, the Hyundai Tucson doesn’t cost much less than the Honda CR-V.

Utility

There’s no clear winner between the Honda CR-V and the Hyundai Tucson when it comes to hauling capacity. The Hyundai and the Honda CR-V can accommodate the same number of passengers. Towing is considerably more the Hyundai’s forte than it is the Honda CR-V’s.

Comfort

Taller drivers will substantially enjoy the extra head room in the Hyundai Tucson ‘s front cabin compared to the Honda. The Honda CR-V provides more head- and leg-room to your passengers than the Hyundai Tucson does.

Dimensions

The Honda CR-V is somewhat heavier than the Tucson. The Honda CR-V’s tank is roughly the same size as the Hyundai Tucson ‘s, though the Hyundai’s is a bit more capacious. The Hyundai and the Honda CR-V compete for the same parking spaces.

Handling

The Hyundai Tucson and the Honda CR-V have roughly similar tires. With their comparable turning circles, the Honda CR-V and the Hyundai Tucson very likely handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain

The Honda’s engine is somewhat smaller than the Tucson’s, but not terribly so.

The basic after-sale protection that comes with the CR-V isn’t quite as generous as the Hyundai’s.
