About HSA Rover

Rover is a team of software developers that specialize in mobile application and website development. As a part of Harvard Student Agencies, Rover is a division of the largest student-run corporation in the world. Our team is committed to producing beautiful, functional applications at the highest level.

Rover takes a hybrid approach to software development. We strive to create an unparalleled user experience that combines elegance and simplicity with a unique approach to user interface design. In addition, Rover understands the fundamental importance of creating software that is durable, easy to maintain and update.

Three years ago we started off as a team of two, specializing solely in iOS apps. After growing the business a little more, we created an Android app team in the fall of 2009 and recently incorporated HSA’s talented e-commerce group as our new web development team. All of our team members are current Harvard students studying computer science or engineering.

Projects

Let’s Go for Android

In the fall of 2012, Rover worked with Let’s Go to create a series of city apps for the Nook. Each app includes a main city page, blogs, videos, photos, and maps. The main city page features information about the city’s neighborhoods, culture, nightlife, and more, providing a thorough and sleek guide to the city.

Look for these apps in the Nook play store!

Harvard University’s Innovation Lab Website

With the support of Harvard’s new Innovation Lab (dubbed the i-lab), Rover began development its new state-of-the-art website. The site, based on the design concept of live tiles, will feature a room reservation system, event calendar, a jobs database and expert directory among other features. Look for the site to go live in early September.

Harvard University Office of Career Services for iOS and Android

For the past few months, Rover has been working closely with Harvard’s Office of Career Services to develop their first ever mobile applications. With both an Android and an iOS version, OCS hopes to reach a large percentage of Harvard students. These apps bring the rich content of OCS along with new tools such as a business card scanner, a student profile page and user generated to-do lists and reminders. Never before has the job search process been so organized!

Look for these apps soon in the App Store and Android Marketplace.

SAT Vocab Flashcards for iOS

In the spring of 2011, the Rover team collaborated with HSA Tutoring to produce its first SAT iPhone app. This app allows students to flip through flashcards of over 1000 SAT vocab words. Users can listen to audio pronunciations, search for words and even create custom folders to store sets of cards.

Even better, the app will keep track of your progress as you go along, maintaining folders for the words you get correct and the ones that you don’t. At $ .99, you won’t find a better vocabulary app than this.
