vs Ford Territory

The Acura Honda MDX (honda MDX in Japan and Australia) is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV manufactured by the Japanese manufacturer Acura since the 2001 model year. It is built by Honda of Canada Manufacturing Ltd. in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. It was presented in late 2000 as a 2001 model, replacing the slow-selling SLX, based on the Isuzu Trooper.

In 2003, the Honda MDX went on sale in Japan. It competes with the Lexus RX, Infiniti FX35, BMW X3, Hummer H3 and Mercedes-Benz M-class. The 2007 introduction of the Acura RDX moved the Honda MDX from the entry-level to the top-line SUV, changing its rivals to the Lexus GX, BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Land Rover LR3 and Infiniti FX45.

Derived from Honda’s Global mid-size platform which underpins vehicles like the Honda Accord, Acura TL, Acura TSX and Honda Odyssey, it is powered by a J35A3 3. 5 L SOHC 24 valve V6 with VTEC. This 3471 cc (3. 5 in x 3. 6 in) motor produces 265 hp (198 Kw) and 253 ft. lbf (343 Nm).

Curb weight is 4451 lb (2019 kg), with a 106. 3 in (2. 7 m) wheelbase and 8 in (203 mm) of ground clearance. The trunk floor can flip up to offer two add-on seatings. The car is developed to hold 7 passengers.

The car features an automatic four wheel drive system that engages only when wheel slippage is detected. The system runs as front wheel drive during normal operation.

The navigator and DVD entertainment system features were mutually exclusive in the 2002 model. Both could be ordered at the same time since the 2003 model. The navigation feature comes with a back view video camera since the 2003 model. Since 2005 the navigator featured data from Zagat about restaurants and other points of interest.

The 2003 model was rated as Ultra Low Emission Car. EPA estimates 23 mpg (10. 23 L/100km) highway and 17 mpg (13. 84 L/100km) city.

In the 2004 model, the motor was enhanced to produce 5 hp (4 Kw) more performance than the 2003 model. The 2004 model features dual tail pipes instead of the single pipe in earlier models. Some chrome trimmings on the 2004 model use matte finish to distinguish from the polished shiny finish on earlier models.

Little changed for the Honda MDX during the 2006 model year with a few minor revisions to the vehicle’s chrome and faux wood dashboard trim.

Following an extensive development programme the covers have finally come off the highly anticipated new-model Ford Territory. The Australian-designed-and-developed SUV (sports Utility Vehicle) has undergone an extensive visual update inside and out. The new Ford Territory wears a stylish suit cut from Ford’s kinetic layout language and its bold new exterior makes it instantly recognisable as a member of Ford’s powerful model family.

Redesigning the multi-award-winning Ford Territory meant building on its already clean and appealing looks, the result of the first-generation Ford Territory’s original layout goal: to create a car that embodied the strength and performance of a conventional SUV while having the prestige, agility and nimbleness of a sporting sedan. The new Ford Territory has taken this to another level.

Underpinning new Ford Territory’s layout was its dual personality: a sophisticated and sporty urban wagon for weekdays and a family getaway car on weekends. Successfully presenting these two functional roles in an impressive visual form was the responsibility of the Ford Australia layout team, headed by Chris Svensson, Layout Director for Ford Asia Pacific and Africa.

We worked hard to ensure the new Ford Territory was an evolution of the original model and, via the use of Ford’s distinct layout DNA, also gave a hint of the future, Svensson explained. To achieve this we applied Ford’s original style philosophy: kinetic layout. Kinetic layout comprises several specific components, all of which are present in the new Ford Territory.

They are confident stance, dynamic lines, expressive form language, taut surfacing, bold graphics and great detailing. When you combine them they convey movement and athleticism. In other words, the car looks like it is moving when standing still.

The overall visual effect of kinetic layout is simple: in the case of the new Ford Territory it communicates its dynamic features and fun-to-drive spirit.
