The Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Not Just Another Sports Car a Stupid Name

I first the 3000GT VR4 at, of all places, a Subaru Subaru had just introduced called the SVX, a small car a silly window but with nice driving qualities, and had rented a really large lot to show it off. We invitees encouraged to drive several in addition to the SVX and then put in our order for the

I liked the SVX and asked to see the colors No blue! So much for that

Subsequently, I looked up the 3000GT had been one of the competitors and discovered it came in an all wheel drive Not just that, but it even had

All Steering!

One of my driving issues is in my corner of rural New Jersey, are many days on which one to have a 4WD vehicle for getting up hills. Liking sports as I do, I decided to give the top-end (i.e. the VR4 variant,) a try. I it! And still do, by the way — it handles remarkably in snow and rain.

Unlike the Corvette ZR1, a fair-weather car, I’ll the Mitsubishi in any conditions. (You can see by the mileage that I have exactly that.) The VR4 variant is in that it not only has 4-wheel it has 4-wheel steering. I don’t to what extent that is responsible for how confidently it handles, but guess quite a bit.

Why Selling

Unlike the low-mileage the Mitsubishi is showing its age. had its share of repair bills and not keen on finding out how many it will garner if I keep it. The VR4 is an enthusiast’s car. At its current age and I suspect it’s best for who will take care of it and not commute in it.

I should also point since I’m trying to it, that it has no known significant has just had dealer service, and is and insured. But unlike the 4WD Ford I now drive when I need it has over 100K miles than the under 10K on the Ford. simply not keen on driving wonderful albeit somewhat car into the dirt.

Accident The car has the odd minor ding, but nothing remotely resembling an accident a fixed object or other Any imperfections in its sheen are due to my lengthy Sorry.

Collectability: I’m not that people collect car. Other than parts swapped out due to dealer it’s all original. I haven’t any spare bits.

No better and no worse than any car that’s been driven miles and had reasonable but not fanatical taken of it. It has spent most, but by no all, of its life garaged at

Interior: Same story. No care, no special disasters.

The radio system has two mechanical problems. The first is that the segments often don’t correctly. Rubbing the display it for a few moments, but it looks funky of the time. Also, sometimes the work, sometimes not.

If the is working and you go over a bump, it cuts out. My diagnosis is there is nothing fundamentally with the radio, but the interconnection the speakers is flaky.

Dashboard: For unknown, you can no longer switch Tour and Sport. It’s in Sport and the Tour/Sport dashboard blinks incessantly. I asked the about this and was told not important but might be expensive.

been doing this for at 20,000 miles with no ill effect.

Engine: As far as I know in perfect shape. The timing has recently been changed as of routine maintenance, so you won’t be that expense for many, miles.

Gas Mileage: On the one hand, it has a biggish On the other hand, the turbines and of the vehicle are a bit of an improvement over the family car.

No reason not to roughly what it says on the

Tires: See photos. They’re mid-life at this point.

Scuttlebutt has it that the transmission in car is somewhat delicate, one of the first to fail, and costs a fortune to or replace. Scuttlebutt aside, the in this one works fine, I never had a problem with it, and I like a wimp and so probably What you do is another issue; if you it after you buy it, you’ll find out the (or lack thereof) of the final

Interested Buyers: The car is registered, and safe and legal to drive. I it for a spin periodically when I it needs some exercise, of course, if you’re seriously I’ll be happy to give you a If you want a photo of anything not shown, please ask.

The Price: I’ve put a price of on this car. This is the Blue Book price. A few sales show a much price.

I don’t know to make of this, so let me just say price is subject to change I’ve figured it out. $6,000 is right, maybe a great bargain.

Legal I am an individual owner, not a car dealer, not an and am selling nothing but a used car no warranty whatsoever. You probably a lot more about buying than I do about selling and you are taking full responsibility for the car the sale. Pretty much all you can on from me is that I am the original and will tell you the truth to the that I know it and remember it. The VR4 is a very fast and powerful
