FEATURE #8211; HONDA NSX-R HEAVEN

If the traffic lights were green this post probably would never have materialized. Nick Itoh and I were on our way to Suzuka circuit that morning after a treacherous drive through torrential rain from Shizuoka. I slowly pulled the Audi A1 up to the lights and stopped directly outside the equivalent of Honda NSX Nirvana; a place where #8220;dreams#8221; can be touched, drooled over#8230;even bought. What I#8217;m about to show you is quite simply one of the most amazing car showrooms you could ever hope to see#8230;

**Remember to click on the images to see 1280 x 850 hi-res goodness!**

I looked over at Nick and gave him a, #8220;You know I#8217;m pulling over here, don#8217;t you?#8221; look. He seemed just as excited as I was to check out what we had both just seen. It turned out to be Route KS, a supplier of what are undoubtedly some of the finest NSX#8217;s in all Japan and the day we arrived there, we were in for a very special treat.

If you are a Honda fan; even worse, an NSX fan, you#8217;ll probably be drooling and babbling like a baby as you walk through the doors.

If that#8217;s not your first reaction, then the sight of this stark naked, exquisitely crafted and impossibly cool NSX-R chassis enclosed behind a special glass screen is sure to bring on cardiac arrest.

This was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen first hand. You can keep your Rembrandts, Picassos and Monets. This is what I want hanging from my wall.

It turns out this particular chassis is also the rarest of all NSX-R chassis. It#8217;s the NSX-R prototype built by Honda just down the road from Route KS.

Everything about it was beautifully crafted. As if that wasn#8217;t enough, Route KS added to it a custom dry carbon hood, door and trunk lid for ample visual effect. The Gen 2 NSX-R got a vented carbon hood and trunk spoiler from the factory but in wet carbon.

This set up is taking things a lot further in the weight reduction stakes and looks so damn sexy in plain, raw carbon.

Have a look at the detail in the door! It#8217;s damn hard to capture good photos when you#8217;re constantly tripping over your own tongue.

From any angle you take it in, it#8217;s a stunningly erotic piece of engineering to behold.

In front of it sat this pristine, ready-to-be-broken-in set of the NSX-R#8217;s Championship white alloy wheels and Bridgestone RE070 asymmetrical boots.

The best though, is yet to come. No doubt if you#8217;re a regular reader of the 7Tune Facebook Fanpage. you will have seen us post up a couple of teasers about this entry and in them you#8217;ll remember seeing 2 NSX-R#8217;s wrapped in plastic. The one on the left has travelled just 10,000 kilometers since new in 2002 and is currently for sale.

It#8217;s always daunting when you see an #8220;ASK#8221; sign on any car but I had nothing to lose, so ask I did. This thoroughbred is yours for a cool 15 million yen, or just under $200,000 USD.

It#8217;s the one on the right that will truly shock you. When Nick and I came in, it was sitting on that red platform cloaked in a golden NSX branded cover. Curiosity got the better of us so we asked the lovely attendant what the cover was concealing. The answer?

A Championship White 2002 NSX-R with 500 DELIVERY kilometers on the clock. I nearly fainted.

And then came what I will refer to here as a dose of #8220;automotive torture#8221;. The same Route KS attendant, seeing my obvious amazement, then casually walked to the back of the veiled car and slowly and deliberately peeled off the gold cloak, revealing yet another layer of protection in the form of a giant sheet of plastic wrapping. I#8217;ve never been so physically aroused by a Honda before#8230;

What a car . What a machine . What an absolute and utter waste . This is one of the very first Gen 2 NSX-R#8217;s which came into production during 2002, meaning it has sat in this state for nearly a whole decade, never seeing more than the odd car show, the roads around the Suzuka factory. and not much else. The worst part? It#8217;s not for sale.

There was no way we were told that Route KS would part with it.

Well#8230; at least I had the opportunity to dribble all over its sexy, virgin curves.

And I wasn#8217;t joking around when I said it had 500 kilometers on the dial, either. I really wanted to sit in it but my backside wasn#8217;t worthy of sharing even the white seat cover protecting the red carbon fiber Recaros.

This wasn#8217;t #8220;safe#8221; NSX. This was dirty, unadulterated, R rated NSX.

As difficult as it was to turn my back on these magnificent cars, there was yet still more to see in this Honda paradise. A glance around the showroom revealed 4 other Gen 2 NSX-R#8217;s in a variety of colors and distances travelled.

This black on black one here can be had for ¥10 million. ( $130,000 USD )

Honda NSX

Next to that was this black on gunmetal 03#8242;#8230;

#8230;out back sporting the heart of a champion.

Over in the corner there was a random scattering of NSX parts#8230;

Including this tasty selection of custom carbon fiber rear wing elements and a titanium exhaust system.

In the adjacent corner was this montage throwback to all the previous cars and concepts Route KS has had a hand in developing.

Anyone out there care to take a guess at what the story behind this red NSX is?

Time had definitely gotten the better of us by this point so we thanked the super nice attendant for helping us around the showroom and beat a hasty exit for the car. We still had some driving to do and a Super GT race with special pit access to the Kondo Racing GT-R teams garage to attend!

If you are ever in the vicinity of Suzuka circuit, have the time and are into Honda#8217;s, it would be absolute madness not to stop by Route KS and see if they are open .

Your minds will be relatively blown .
