After he sold his second to be shipped to Japan, the opportunity it self to purchase this car his friend which had been its days delivering pizza. JJ had been helping his friend the car and the car was even cleaner then the one he had sold off, the deal was a no to him.

While the KP61 came with the 4K motor, a I-4 producing 65 hp and 72 ft*lb of torque, the that was in the car was a built 3K 1.2L I-4 a Weber 45 carburetor. This was not enough for JJ’s needs and the was swapped out for 4AGE (AE86) with individual throttle Soon, this motor was from the car in favor of a 4AGZE motor out of a ’87 MR2.

Sadly this motor from rod knock and the car underwent a and final (for now) in the form of another 4AGZE. time however the supercharger was for a turbo setup. A set of Arias is used for squishing the air/fuel

The turbo is a Garret GT28 bearing turbo receiving the gases from a HKS turbo to compress the incoming air and sent a custom exhaust set up terminating a 5Zigen muffler. On top of the motor is a set of HKS bump sticks being by a set of Tomei adjustable cam gears. the go juice for the motor is a custom consisting of a Bosch external pump, RC 550 injectors and an AEM stand ECU keeping everything running

To free up room in the already engine bay, the standard was removed and cleverly replaced a direct ignition setup an SR20DET motor. The limited bay room also provided a fitting all the components for keeping the oil, and the incoming air cool. A radiator that normally is for a was used and a small, custom for the front mount and oil cooler were made to fit into the bumper.

AE86 parts been incorporated into the braking and suspension systems. Up parts from an AE86 big kit are applied with a Tokico 5 way adjustable coil over kit and a camber kit keeping the wheels correctly. IN the back, an AE86 end was customized to fit with its adjustable link suspension

and 3T coil   JJ swaps between two classic sets- Mosport#8217;s and  SSR Mesh, wrapped in Sumitomo Getting the power from the to the ground is accomplished by way of a racing Toyota T50 5-speed transmission, a drive shaft, and the power is by the AE86 differential with an LSD and ring and pinion inside.

Shifting is done with a throw shifter topped a TRD shifter. Before its current the Starlet once had some fender flares, but the added from the turbo required wider tires be fit on the car. A TRD N2 body kit was fit the bill perfectly for the extra rubber. This did some customization on the flares so the car be lowered to the desired height and the location of the gas cover.

Using some cutting, welding, and a Kawasaki gas cap and cover, a smooth and look was achieved with the To top it off, the car was repainted in Speed Way which is a color choice on the TRD pickup and new weather strips installed all around the car. JDM goodies were used for the lights and JDM side mirrors are on the front fenders.

The insides of the car also received the care with the goal to be to the interiors JJ used to see at meets he was younger. This Starlet has all the needed to be functional on the street and the and JJ is not afraid take the car racing. with road racing, the car has seen its fair share of racing, drifting and even out on the ice for some ice racing. Even the other cars in his garage, Starlet remains his crown
