Driving The 2014 Subaru Forester

I recently borrowed a 2014 Subaru Forester. This is my review.

I ventured out to the Jersey Shore in the middle of a tropical storm. It wasn#8217;t the worst the shore had seen, but it was still a pain to drive in. Have you ever driven in New Jersey? Not a lot of fun#8230;and I#8217;m from New York!

Let#8217;s just say that rain and NJ drivers don#8217;t mix, and I was a little nervous. To top it all off, I was driving a brand spanking new 2014 Subaru Forester, on loan.

Gorgeous vehicle, a little too small for my family of 5, but still spacious enough to for a family with one less kid. The trunk is also pretty spacious trunk and the backseat had a nice amount of leg room.

Though I started my drive in a bit of a nervous state, the various safety systems in place in the Subaru were comforting.

There are various warning alerts that can go off in the car to let you know about such things as whether you are starting to veer out of your lane, whether you are too close to car in front of you. It#8217;s all part of the latest in-car safety technology called the EyeSight, which consists of two cameras that are mounted by the rearview mirror and is designed to #8220;see#8221; the problem, as well initiates action to help avoid the trouble.

I was never in any real danger, but if I was off lane (without a turn signal) an alert and flash a visual warning would go off to make sure I was aware. If I had been in any real danger, the system is designed to  apply the brakes automatically if I don#8217;t. Eyesight can also optimize cruise control, which was nice on my long drive to Atlantic City.

That#8217;s a lot of cool in midsize SUV.

What I liked most about the car was the cabin space and the amount of light coming from the big windows (and overhead window), the navigational system. XM radio (sooo key for road trips!), and the push start, as well as the pick up and the light steering. Love the control on this vehicle.

If you have an opportunity to give one a test drive, I would really recommend you doing so and testing out the features I mention above. I am a huge fan of the technology in this car, but especially the attention to safety. I am not a nervous drier by nature, but my children have certainly helped to make me less of an aggressive one #8211; which isn#8217;t always the case for those around you.

Disclosure: I was chosen to participate in a test drive of the 2014 Subaru Forester as part of the Subaru Foresters Blogger Program. Other than a request to review details of the car, I received no other request with respect to my detailing the experience. All opinions expressed here are my own.
