Dressed to Impress Toyota Premio Features

By Kyoko Nitori on April 13, 2013

How could a midsize sedan look so luxurious? The Toyota Premio features a sleek, elegant look uncommon in a sedan of its category. The Premio was launched in 2001 as a replacement for the Corona and has had two generation releases, the latest being its 2007 redesign.

The second-generation Premio has improved features, making the car more stylish and perfect for entrepreneurs and business professionals. The redesign resulted in better engine performance, superior styling, and advanced safety features.

Package options

If you are interested in buying a Premio, you would be glad to know that it is offered in five packages and three engine sizes. There#39;s the 1.8X grade with 1.8-liter engine. Available with this engine are the EX and L packages that both come with either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The 1.8-liter engine has been equipped with valvematic technology that increases combustion efficiency, allowing for optimized fuel use and engine performance.

As a result, the Premio can reach up to 16.4 kilometers on a single liter of gasoline. For a lower fuel consumption and greater mileage, consumers can go for the 1.5-liter engine with either the EX or L package. Both packages are two-wheel drive and have a mileage of up to 18.2 km/L. What is interesting about the 1.5-liter package is that because of its fuel economy, it is amble to meet the new fuel economy standards established for 2015.

For more power, you can get the 2.0-liter engine (Superior Package) which comes in two-wheel drive and can go 15.6 kilometers per liter of gas. For those that usually drive long distances, this is the package for you.

Toyota Premio features: Safety is key

Toyota has been known to provide the world with the safest vehicles, and the Premio is no different when it comes to protecting its passengers from harm. The Superior Package, for one, has been equipped with a Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control that makes sure the car grips the road well, especially when encountering slippery surfaces and steep inclines. This feature is a big help especially during the rainy season when roads are wet and muddy.

The Premio also has a Brake Assist Feature which can sense sudden, emergency breaking, and then generates a stable, strong braking force. Working hand-in-hand with the Brake Assist is the Electronic Brake Force Distribution Control, which in turn is responsible for distributing equal braking power to the right and left wheels when needed, depending on how the vehicle is running.

Restyled lighting for brighter illumination

One of the new Toyota Premio features is the restyled lighting. In the Superior package and in all of the EX trims, the Premio is equipped with headlamps and fog lights that have an auto-leveling feature. What it does is to maintain a constant illumination axis from the headlamps. This prevents glare from being directed to vehicles in front, whether oncoming from the opposite lane or those preceding the Premio in traffic.

In addition, the Premio has been equipped with a Con Light sensor that adjusts the headlamps#39; brightness automatically, based on how bright or dark the driving environment is. As for the rear brake lights, these have been installed with LED which makes them glow brighter but consume less power.

These Toyota Premio features are what make this model worth buying. If you#39;re looking to have more savings, buy secondhand units that are just as good and elegant-you won#39;t regret it.
