Price and equipment

Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars

Great car for how much was paid. Everything is practical, everything is at that basic level that nothing can go wrong, but still advanced enough to hold a technological advantage. The Air-Con is ice cold and there is the option of ‘Econo’ mode which is still nice and cold but gives the advantage of lower fuel costs.

Under the bonnet

Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars

Has a great punchy little 1.6L engine, to get you around with ease. The 5 speed manual is well set for the engine.

How it drives

Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars

It drives great, the engine is great and gets you anywhere quick considering its size. Has the ability to overtake when needed. Comfortably does highway speeds, no need to flog it.

Handles nicely, although there is the occasion the back end will wander if you aren’t careful as the tires are quite thin.

Comfort and practicality

Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars

Very practical car, haven’t seen a small car from this era better. The car is comfortable and there is lots of room even though it’s a small class car.

But after long driving for a few hours you get a bit stiff, but thats the same for any car. And the boot is huge thanks to the hatchback sedan design.

Servicing and running costs

Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars

Very cheap to run, I get about 450kms per tank and it’s very cheap to fill (respective to fuel prices). Servicing has never cost more than $100 at the most expensive of them.

Aesthetics styling

Now almost 16years old the styling of the car is not that far outdated from modern cars it still holds a charm to it and you won’t cop anything about it being an ugly rustbucket.

Safety and security

Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars

I do believe the security of the car even without an alarm is relatively high design-wise. I once locked my keys in the car and had to coathanger my way in, but they have designed the doors with overlapping parts to greatly hinder the coathanger.

Quality and reliability

Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars

The car is great quality, all the odds and ends do what they should without breaking. There are no rattles or squeaks or anything. And after 194000km’s the car runs like it was new.

The only problem i’ve had is a new belt for the Air-Con compressor as it wasn’t tight and wore into the belt.

Overall verdict

Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars

Overall the car is everything you’d want in a small car and more without the big hole in your pocket that keeps going and going without letting you down. The car is great from having it as your everyday driver, a casual weekend driver, a cheap run around, a suitable Pplater car, or even your long journey car, it can do it. I’d definitely buy this car again and I will continue to own my current one.
