Compare Hyundai Centennial vs Bentley Mulsanne (1:1)

The Centennial is the flagship model for Hyundai and uses the excellent Genesis sedan as its base.

It’s new to the Middle East market in 2010 and is designed to be the Korean manufacturer’s alternative to the likes of a Lexus LS460h, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class or Audi A8. It’s quite a heady claim, but if the Genesis is anything to go by, we wouldn’t put it past Hyundai succeeding with the Centennial.

The styling is fairly unadventurous considering some of the designs within the Hyundai family at the moment, and there’s definitely some hints of rival cars in some of the angles – the rear in particular is very similar to the Lexus LS’s.

However, when you’re target buyer is looking for something to cosset them around as they sit in the back or prove relaxing on the long drive they don’t want to stand out from the crowd so blending in is a good thing.

If you have extraordinarily high standards and deep pockets to match, the 2011 Bentley Mulsanne will likely satisfy your desire for ultimate luxury. Bentley Mulsanne Sedan offers the following pros: Impeccable interior; modern controls and amenities; prodigious thrust; smooth and silent ride; feature-rich content. Bentley Mulsanne Sedan drawbacks are: Ponderous in turns; pricey.

The 2011 Bentley Mulsanne is provided in one very well-appointed trim level. Traditional features include 20-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lights, heated and auto-dimming outside mirrors, a performance cargo lid, front and back parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, a self-leveling air suspension, selectable drive control (comfort, Normal and Sport), keyless ignition/entry and a concealed battery charging port.

Inside the cab, occupants are treated to leather upholstery for nearly each surface, wood trim, glass switchgear, heated 14-way performance front seatings with memory, heated eight-way performance back seatings with memory (outboard seatings only), four-zone automatic conditioning, a performance tilt-and-telescoping multifunction helm, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and performance rear-window privacy diplays.

The Bentley Mulsanne’s electronic interfaces include a navigation system, Bluetooth, a multimedia interface controller with voice control, a 14-speaker stereo system with a Six-cd changer, a 20GB audio server, Ipod connectivity, Usb/auxiliary stereo inputs and mini USB ports for smartphones or cameras.

Well-heeled clients will likely indulge in the long list of features that include 21-inch wheels, a flying B radiator mascot, chrome look accents, back privacy glass, ventilated seatings, a heated and wood-veneered helm, alloy pedals, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, ambient mood lighting, a Naim luxury stereo system and twin 8-inch rear-seat monitors. Besides the numerous color choices for the body and dashboard upholstery, consumers may also specify custom colours — for an add-on price tag, of course.
