CHRYSLER VOYAGER 2.5 CRD SE Plus 5dr (Review date: 8th March ’12 )

4.3

We bought this car 2 years ago, with 2 adukts, 3 children a dog and lots of relatives we wanted something with plenty of room. this has 4 captain chairs and a bench for 3 at the back. this made the decision easy for us. we looked at galaxys and zafiras, but the 2 boot seats always felt like an after thought. this is set out perfectly. It also has a huge boot! tows are caravan with such ease.

We love the fact that even thouggh it is such a big car, it cant half move. poeples faces that think because of its size they can out run it with ease. eat our dust!

CHRYSLER VOYAGER 2.8 CRD LX 5dr Auto (Review date: 19th January ’12 )

To be honest, after rating my car I felt 3 out of 5 is a bit harsh considering all members of my family (Including me) love the Voyager. I also looked at all the other 7 seater’s before buying and thought the Voyager was best suited for us. We have 4 children, 2 infants, a 5 year old and an 11 year old so we knew we had to go with a 2 3 seating formation rather than the 3 2 formation normally found in seven seaters (Galaxy’s, Trajts, Santa Fe’s…ect…).

I’ll try and explain why I have rated it 2.8 out of 5 below but would like to add, despite the low rating I would still pick the voyager over all the other 7 seaters as I belive its still the best in its class.

Practicality – 4/5: The only thing better for space, child friendly and daily use is the Grand Voyager otherwise it would have given 5/5 stars.

Chrysler Voyager

Reliability – 3/5: Its American made and it feels American made. I’m only 3 months into ownership but can tell it’s probably not going to be the most reliable car I’ve ever owned.

Running costs – 2/5: At over €1200 a year to tax (Ireland) and about 23MPG it’s not going to win any awards.

How it drives – 3/5: This was a hard one because on the motorway it’s great but around town it’s like driving a bus. The engine noise and lack of throttle response really does take away for the car.

Summary: For families with 4 or more young kids, there is no better seven seater. If you can get over the cost of running bit, it really does leave the others behind. Also, most of its competitors aren’t really competitors, the voyager is more of a luxury MPV than just a transporter like the Hyundai Trajet and Espace.

My last two cars consisted of a 2002 Mercedes ML320 and a 2006 BMW 530D so the voyager had a lot to live up too. Again, despite the low rating I would recommend the Chrysler Voyager.
