Chevrolet Equinox

Today on this 2013 Chevrolet Equinox we#39;re going to install part number 3160-1A from Roadmaster. First off we need to get underneath the hood. We need to remove two plastic fasteners and four T20 torque bolts that attach the top of the fascia to the core support. Next we need to go in the fender well right where the bumper cover meets the fender body we#39;ll go ahead and remove the screw.

Now this screw is in a vertical position and it uses a 7 millimeter socket. Then along the edge o f the fender well going down towards the tire they#39;ll be a couple more screws we#39;ll have to remove and a couple of plastic fasteners.

Today, on our 2013 Chevrolet Equinox we#39;ll be test fitting the Weathertech second row rear auto floor mat in black, part number WT442712. We#39;ll begin our test fit by removing the previous mats. We#39;ll lay in our new Weathertech mat and push it down into position.

The single piece liner ensures complete coverage even over the hump and fits the contour of this vehicle very well. The advanced surfacing creates channels that divert fluid and debris away from shoes and clothing and keeps them off of your carpet. The unique material is designed for shrink and features a texture that securely grips the floor. The black finish complements most interiors and this mat is made in the USA.

It is also available in gray with part number WT462712 and in tan with WT452712. That completes today#39;s test fit of the Weathertech second row rear auto floor mat in black, part number WT442712 on our 2013 Chevrolet Equinox.

Today we are going to be installing Curt hitch, part number 13591, on a 2005 Chevy Equinox. The first thing that we want to do on the Equinox is go ahead and remove this center section here which is going to allow for clearance to get the bolts mounted in the bumper flange at the bottom here. We will pull out these pop rivets, one on each side. OK, with the cover removed, you can see the 2 mounting points at the bottom of the bumper being here.

There are 2 weld nuts which we are going to use the existing end 12 fasteners that are going to go in to those points there. OK, then again on the outside of the frame rails here, you can see the 2 attaching points. There is a weld nut here and one above it as well, and that is going to be the same for both sides of the frame.

And now, we are going to go ahead and put the hitch up into position, using these attaching points. This hitch will actually be easier to get up into place if you have an extra set of hands because it is a bit awkward.

Today we are going to install part number 118391 from Tow Ready. This is a T-1 harness for an 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. We will begin our install by getting inside the vehicle and getting to the jack storage compartment. Once you take out the jack, reach down and you can actually feel for the wire harness down here. Feel around until you find the plastic plug.

It does not come out far, but you can see it right here. And you pull it up. There is not much slack in it, but that is the connector right there. It is at the very bottom of the jack storage compartment. And simply your T-1 connector will just plug right into it.

And also then your ground connector can connect to the ground wire that is at the bottom of the compartment.

Chevrolet Equinox Questions and Answers

We offer several Class III trailer hitches with 2 inch receivers that fit the 2010 Chevy Equinox though they do not have the capacity to handle the full 600 pound capacity of the Rola cargo carrier. I have included a link to them on the right. The most popular option is Curt trailer hitch # 13591.

I have linked the instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you. The weight capacity of these hitches is topped out at 350 pounds. You will need to consult the vehicle owners manua

We offer both Class II and Class III trailer hitch receivers for your 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. While both classes are rated for 3500-lb towing capacity I suggest one of the three available 2-inch Class III hitches; these can be seen on the link provided. None requires drilling for installation.

You will also need a compatible Class III ball mount and hitch ball of the appropriate diameter to match the coupler on your pop-up camper. For example, we offer Draw-Tite ball mount # 2923; this partic

The TrailerMate Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit, # TM780072, will work with the Roadmaster Add-a-Brake braking system. It is important to keep in mind that the TrailerMate harness uses combined tail light wiring meaning the turn signal and brake light signal are combined on the same wire for the right and the left side. The brake signal wire coming from your Add-a-Brake system will connect to a diode that connects to the green and yellow wire from the TrailerMate harness. I have attached a diagram

There are a couple of things that need to be addressed when towing your 2013 Chevrolet Equinox behind your motor home. The first question you asked was how to access the brake lite switch under the dash. Per Roadmaster, a stop light switch, part # RM-751439, needs to be installed.

For your vehicle, you need the stop light switch installed because your Equinox brake switch does not provide the correct signal needed when using a supplemental brake system. The included instructions with the sto

The Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness you installed, part # 118494, is a powered custom-fit converter and its installation in a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox is shown in the linked video. There are a few possible causes for the issue you are having with your Pilot Hitch Cover Brake and Tail Light # CR-007A. If you have access to another 4-pole harness-equipped vehicle you can try the light on that vehicle to see if it displays the same problem. If not, the best method for locating the issue is

We do indeed list the Passage 3 trunk mounted bike rack as a fit for the 2008 Chevy Equinox, but just to be sure, I phoned Thule to confirm. Thule tells me that their Passage 3 bike rack, part # TH911XT will fit your Equinox and will work with the spoiler. They have tested their trunk mount racks with this particular vehicle, and have found the because most of the weight of the rack will be borne by the bottom of the rack resting on the vehicle, the spoiler is substantial enough that it can

The Fire Dancer Patio Fire Pit, # FD500, stands 9 inches tall with the lid on and 7 inches tall with the lid off. I have included a link to a video from the manufacturer covering the different attributes of the Fire Dancer for you. There are some accessories that you can add if interested including a ceramic log, # FDLOG, and a grill accessory, # FDGRILL.

I went out to the warehouse and pulled the Chrome Trailer Hitch Receiver Tube Cover, # F-10P, to take some measurements. The width at the widest point is 5-3/8 inches and at the narrowest point 2-3/4 inches. The height is 3-1/8 inches. The center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the cover is 2-1/4 inches.

The overall depth is 3-1/2 inches.

For your 2011 Chevrolet Equinox to be towed behind a motorhome you will need to set up a flat towing system. You will need base plates that attach to your car, a tow bar that attachs the base plates to your motorhome, safety cables for these connection points, wiring, and a supplemental braking system. I have included a helpful article that explains the components of a flat towing system.

For your application I suggest the Blue Ox Base Plates # BX1689. These are designed to fit on your 2011 C

To determine whether or not the SportRack Vista cargo box # SR7018 will fit the factory roof rack on your 2011 Chevy Equinox you will need to take a closer look at the crossbars on the roof rack. You will need to take a couple of measurements. Start with the width of the crossbars. If they are no wider than 4 inches the mounting hardware of the box will fit around them.

Then measure the center to center distance between the 2 bars. The distance will need to be between 23-5/8 inches and 34 inc

The basics of what you are going to need to pull your fishing boat with your 2013 Chevy Equinox is a wiring harness for the lights and a ball mount and ball. Providing that your boat and trailer are within the weight limits, and you do not have the tow package the Curt T-Connector Harness # 56094 will provide an economical way to hook up your trailer brake lights. I have attached a brief installation video that takes you step by step as well as the installation instructions. If you do hav

The first thing you will need to install a brake controller in your 2006 Chevy Equinox will be to install a 4-way trailer connector. This will carry the tail light circuits of your trailer. For this you would want a Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118391.

I attached installation instructions and an install video that shows how this installs, its a pretty simple install process. Next you will need to convert this 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install and operate a brake controller. Fo

Thule does list the Passage 2 trunk mount bike rack # TH910XT as a fit for your 2010 Chevy Equinox. I have included a link to a video showing the features of the rack for you. If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical mens bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # TH982XT.

This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my w

Yakima does list the SkyBox 16, # Y07178, as a fit to the factory crossbars on your 2011 Chevy Equinox. However, you would need at least 52 inches from the center of the front crossbar back to the edge of the rear hatch in order to be able to raise the rear hatch without interference. While you may be able to use some sort of adapter that will add a set of crossbars above the existing cross bars, that will still not help with the rear hatch interference and make the box higher above the vehic

The Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751439 can fit both the Chevrolet Equinox and the GMC Terrain. It is possible that the photo illustrations in the instructions may show interior detail of more than one vehicle. My contact at Roadmaster confirmed this is often the case.

The photos shown are general representative examples rather than exact literal illustrations of your particular year/make/model vehicle. Also, auto makers may sometimes make minor revisions to vehicles, such as alterin

To carry a cargo box you would need to install crossbars. You can add crossbars to a 2006 Chevy Equinox that just has the side rails that run front to back. There are 2 options and I have linked them for you.

For a good all around rack that is also economical I recommend the Yakima system made up of the following parts: 48 inch crossbars # Y00408 RailGrabs, # Y00138 I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation for you. If you can tell me what you plan on carrying on th

Between the MX and XL base plates for the 2011 Chevy Equinox, both have removable draw-bar arms that you can take out when not in use so either one would be virtually invisible with the arms out. I recommend going with the XL base plates, # 3160-1A, because they are compatible with more tow bars. Before going any further you will want to consult the vehicle owners manual to make sure your Equinox can be flat towed and if there are any special requirements or procedures you need to follow.

The Yakima HoldUp 2 # Y02445 is designed to fit a 1-1/4 inch Class II hitch, and will fit your 2013 Chevy Equinox. Please note that this carrier cannot be used with bikes that have fenders. The HoldUp 2 can hold 2 bikes with a maximum weight of 60-lbs each.

I have attached a brief video demonstration for the HoldUp 2. Although the vehicle shown is different than yours, you can see in the picture attached that the tilting feature allows full cargo access. These results should be similar on

Your 2013 Chevrolet Equinox uses a type 921 backup light bulb. The Hopkins product you reviewed, part # HM20101VA, is a replacement for the type 3156 bulb. My contact at Hopkins advises that they do not offer an audible alarm replacement bulb for the 921 type.

I also checked with two other suppliers of aftermarket lighting products, Putco and Optronics, and neither of these suppliers offers a 921 replacement bulb with alarm. However, we do offer the Custer Surface Mount Back-up Alarm, part

For a complete roof rack for your 2010 Chevrolet Equinox without any factory side rails you will need a set of clamps and cross bars. The Custom DK Clamps and Pads, part # DK226, and the Rhino Rack 2500 Series Crossbars, part # DS118B, are both confirmed as a fit for your vehicle. I have provided a link to the products that we offer to carry a kayak on your roof rack.

I recommend the Yakima Kayak Stacker part # Y04036 which can hold 1 or 2 kayaks. Please note that the kayak(s) must be loaded

I have included a picture that shows where the plates go using the Quick Release mounting hardware # SR04952. The orientation of the very bottom plate can be forward or backward. You will want the flat part of the bottom plate to contact the bottom of the crossbar.

The absolute largest cargo box confirmed to fit your 2013 Chevy Equinox and still allow the rear hatch of your vehicle to open and not interfere with the antenna would be the Thule Boxter Cargo Box # TH611. This cargo box is literally the nicest cargo box on the market and has 18 cubic feet of storage space. Check out the review video I attached for this product. For a more economically priced box with a little less storage that will work on your vehicle check out the Thule Force Cargo Box #

There are several wiring harnesses available for the 2011 Chevy Equinox but # C58044 will not fit. I have included a link to the harnesses that do fit. If your Equinox does not have the factory tow package the most popular option is # 56094. I have linked the instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you. If your Equinox does have the factory tow package you would use harness # 118264.

I have linked a video and the instructions for this harness as well.

You will need a dedicated brake light circuit (a circuit that only carries the brake light signal) to attach to the brake controller red wire. The CHMSL circuit (center high mount stop light) does fit this description and you can use it. Finding the correct stop light wire on a 2013 Equinox is different than on other vehicles. To get it under the dash you need to access the BCM (body control module).

It is located under the dash above where your left knee would be. The module will have severa

You will need to install a cargo basket like the Rhino-Rack Steel Mesh, Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # RLBL-S280 on the cross bars of your 2011 Chevy Equinox in order to install a Rhino Rack Cargo Back # RRLBL. As long as your cross bars are 3-7/8 inches in diameter or less and the cross bar spread is between 48 and 57 inches this basket should work well for you. Or you could get a cargo bag that does not required a cargo bag like the Thule Tahoe Cargo Bag # TH867. This bag does not require t

You can use the TrailerMate Custom Tail Light Wiring Harness, # TM780072, when flat towing your 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. After doing some research on your vehicle, I have found that some models cannot be flat towed, especially those with the continuously variable transmission (CVT). These models must be towed using a tow dolly.

Before you attempt to flat tow your Equinox, I recommend checking your owners manual for any flat towing restrictions or procedures. If you determine that your Equinox

Your 2013 Chevrolet Equinox can be equipped with two different sizes of trailer hitch receiver, either a 1-1/4-inch or a 2-inch. Since loaded coolers can be fairly heavy I will suggest you go with a 2-inch hitch to give you the maximum carrying capacity for your coolers and other tailgating essentials. We offer the Hidden Hitch # 87572, which has a 350-lb tongue weight rating.

This will be more than adequate for the weight of a cargo carrier plus your coolers and other gear. This bolt-on hitc

If you have side rails that run from front to back on your 2012 Chevy Equinox you will need the following parts to complete a roof rack: Thule Square Load Bars # THLB50 Thule Crossroad Foot Pack # TH450 If you have a naked roof you would need these parts: Yakima Round Cross Bars # Y00408 Yakima Q132 Q Clips # Y00732 Yakima Q Towers Roof Rack Feet # Y00124 Once you have a roof rack you will need a Replacement QM3 Quick Mount Hardware # TH04997 that you referenced to attach your car

I checked with Roadmaster and for your 2005 Chevy Equinox you would want a Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 3127-1 so that you could flat tow your vehicle with a set of tow bars. The RoadMaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522 that you referenced will work with this base plate kit and comes with quick disconnects and built in safety cable guides so I would recommend you get the RoadMaster 64 inch Single Hook # RM-645 as well. For wiring there are several option, check out the FAQ article

There are a number of bike rack options for your 2005 Chevrolet Equinox LT without trailer hitch. We will look at trunk-mounted bike racks first. You can go with the Thule Raceway 2 Bike Carrier # TH9001.

It is a trunk-/rear door-mounted bike rack that carries 2 bikes with a weight capacity of 70 lbs. It prevents bike-to-bike and bike-to-vehicle contact with no-sway cage accessories. A heads up for this or any trunk-mounted rack: you cannot use the rear windshield wiper when using this product.
