Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 41165 on a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado, this harness also applies to the GMC Canyon. We are underneath the vehicle now. We are going to go ahead and point out where the wiring harness is located.

You can see where the spare tire is located, directly to the left of that, at the merging of the cross member and the frame, you can see the wiring connectors here. The first thing we want to do is go ahead and disconnect these two pieces. You can see there is a little tab here.

Go ahead and push that in and pull the two connectors apart.

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118301 on a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado. OK, we are underneath the vehicle and we removed the spare tire, and if you kind of look at the cross member here, follow it to the drivers side you can see the T-harness that we are going to be disconnecting on the vehicle here. This is where our aftermarket harness is going to plug into.

So the first thing we want to do is just go ahead and push the tab in and pull the connectors apart. OK, then we just want to go ahead and plug our harness in line here, like so.

Chevrolet Colorado Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Questions and Answers

Normally when there is more load on a circuit, like when the running lights are on and drawing constant power, that is when ground issues show up. I know you have moved the ground once already but try moving it to another location and/or sanding down the bare metal surface for the best connection. To test this you can run a length of wire from the converter ground wire to the negative battery terminal. If the problem goes away then you know an alternate ground location will work to fix the issue

The trailer connector # 20119 would fit if the truck originally came with a factory 7-Way wiring harness. Since your truck did not, you will need to hardwire in a 7-Way using # ETBC7. I have included some links that explain the ETBC7 installation for you to view.

Either wiring harness for the 2007 Chevy Colorado, # 118301 or # 41165, will work fine on the truck. They are different because they are made by different companies. The converter in # 118301 requires a separate ground whereas the other harness # 41165 does not and just uses the ground in the vehicle wiring where it connects.

The harness you have will work just fine for you.

When the Plug-N-Tow TM Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 41165, is installed on your 2004 Chevy Colorado, you can leave it installed. It does not have to be removed if you are not towing. Just make sure that the small cover for the 4-Way connector portion is covering the pins so that it can protect it from dirt and corrosion.

If you plan on only infrequent towing and find that the connection location for the wiring harness is easily accessible for you, you can disconnect the harness it you wanted.

If your 2011 Chevy Colorado has a 4-Way flat, or, you install a 4-Way flat like # 118301 that you have referenced, you may be able to use 4 Pole Knock-Out Adapter, # 30601. I went out to the warehouse to measure this part and it is 1-5/8 inches in diameter at the largest point which would be a little larger than ra quarter. You would just need to route the 4-Way harness through the back of the plug, connect it to this adapter, and then mount the adapter into the hole. You will just need to make

There are two places the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 41165, will plug into your 2008 Chevy Colorado. Usually, you will find the trucks taillight harness under the truck, behind the rear bumper, near the drivers side frame rail. The Hoppy, has one male plug and one female plug.

After unplugging the vehicles harness from the location mentioned above, you will plug the corresponding plugs on the Hoppy in line with the vehicles harness. You then mount the 4-pole at the rear of the vehic

The best way to determine if the converter is damaged is to check the wires right at the box. Using a circuit tester, like part #3808, probe the green wire just ahead of the box. If it does not have power, then the wiring may have come loose in the connectors or inside the taped wires.

If it does have power, check the green wire on the other side of the converter. If this one does not have power, then the converter could be bad.

To isolate where the problem is occurring, I recommend testing the 4-Way plug on the # 41165 wiring harness with a circuit tester, without the trailer connected. Have someone assist you by engaging the tail lights, pressing the brake pedal, and flipping on the turn signals as you test each corresponding port on the plug. You should only see a flashing current on the yellow (left turn) and green (right turn) ports when the turn signals are activated. If the functions are reading correc

At this time there is not a vehicle specific wiring harness for the 2010 Equinox. You can wire your vehicle with the Upgraded Circuit Protected Modulite with 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit, item # 119179KIT. With this kit you will get everything needed to install a 4-pole trailer connector for towing. The Modulite kit uses a wire that is ran to the battery with a inline fuse to power the trailer lights, you will then use the included circuit tester to find the vehicle wiring, at the rear of the
