The Chery Tiggo is a crossover SUV by the Chinese car maker Chery Automobile and Avtotor. It has been in production since the year 2006 and has benefitted from all the technological innovation in the industry over the years, from when Mercedes first designed an automobile before the First World War; as such the Tiggo is stylish and elegant, and provides functioning and useful high tech features. The SUV comes in either the front wheel drive format or the All-Wheel drive format.

Engine options on the model range are the 1.6 L, the 2.0 L and the 2.4 L. It resembles and competes with models such as the Toyota RAV4, the Honda CR-V and the Mitsubishi Outlander. The Chery Tiggo is a 5-door SUV which does well when it comes to the needs of families, affordable and also can take care the trip luggage and offer interior space for the fun and comfort of the family. All engines use petrol to get the engine propelling the motor of the vehicle.

Three models are available and these include the Tiggo 1.6 TX, the Tiggo 2.0 TXE and the Tiggo 2.0 TXE AT. All the engines of the Tiggo use 4 cylinders and also adopt the 16V format. Maximum torque on the Tiggo is estimated at 147Nm at 4300 rpm, while the maximum power generated by the Chery Tiggo is 80kW for the 1.6 TX model, while the 2.0 TXE does 95kW and the 2.0 TXE AT does the same as the 2.0 TXE.

The kerb mass of the Chery Tiggo is 1375kg and with a Gross Vehicle Mass of 1750kg, the Tiggo does not struggle with family luggage at all. The wheelbase of 2510mm and length of 4285mm also provide a size for the vehicle, and capability to take on more luggage and people. Its ground clearance of 132mm works well for it, in the provision of solid, sound driving without the fear of overturning, like some vehicles with high ground clearances.

All models use 16 inch wheels, which also provide safety and security for the drivers and passengers, through a firm grip on the road and durability.

The family can enjoy the luxury of the entertainment provided in the Tiggo courtesy of the AM/FM radio single disc CD player on the 1.6 TX model, while the other two models provide a 6 disc CD player. Safety and security is an aspect the Tiggo champions on. It provides all the expected and needed modern high tech functions and features that provide sound and safe driving.

Found across all models are Dual Airbags, the ABS with EBD, Side impact protection bars, the central locking feature with remote, Convenience Locking, Transponder Key, Alarm and the Child locks on rear doors. Easy handling and control of this modern SUV is enabled by the power steering the electric windows and power mirrors on the Tiggo. The 2.0 TXE and the 2.0 TXE AT models provide much more plush and luxury with the addition of the leather upholstery.

Found across all models is the manual aircon for comfort in the car, while the electric roof features on the 2.0 TXE and TEX AT models. The interior of Tiggo comes with modern instrumentation; taking on board the front seat map pockets, front door bin, driver storage, cup holders, front centre armrest and roof mounted aerial, while the Sunvisor Standard comes standard on the 1.6 TX model, with the other premier models take on the luxury Sunvisor.

The exterior of the Tiggo is defined by the luggage rack, the high mounted brake light and the electrically adjustable headlights; all featuring across the three models. The 57 L fuel tank provides peace of the mind on those long drives from city to city, especially when behind time and you don’t have time to spare for a refill. Fuel consumption on the Tiggo is estimated at 7.9 L per 100km, making the SUV go for over 700 km.

Further safety and security is provided by the ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and the suspension of the Tiggo uses the MacPherson struts and the rear trailing arms with coils.

This SUV is a contender on the SUV segment and the creativity and style it provides as made it carve its own niche in the SUV segment and today, it has been received for the uniqueness and well defined identity the vehicle possesses.
