: The #8216;Qtest#8217; car

Being the cheapest car in most of the countries launched, Chery QQ has posed threats to a lot of domestic cars as QQ shared the same market with the lower priced mobiles from local manufacturers. Perhaps with that level of budget you would not hold high expectations for this mightily mini city car with a tiny reputation from a nation where the field of transportation is still developing. QQ is said to be a clone of Chevrolet Spark or Daewoo Matiz, due to their similar exterior and interchangeable doors.

Aesthetically designed to target the female-consumer market unfailingly, this model speaks budget. It comes in two gasoline-powered engines, one in 0.8L and another in 1.1L. You would probably think that at this price the car performance should go rock bottom. Truth is, it is surprisingly powerful even when you go above 130kmph.

Unlike most small cars, QQ does not swerve at such speed, and has a remarkably spacious interior, although plastic-y. As a 5-door hatchback, QQ also comes with a power steering, ABS, digital dash, CD player plus USB port, and front and rear fog lights. Cup holders are a bonus.

However the gasoline only engines would suffer a little in countries that majorly run cars on ethanol.

For extra power, it is advised to go for the 1.1L engine. The brakes are front ventilated discs and rear drums. Exceptionally, the growling of its engine is soft and the surrounding wind roar is muffled. QQ ’s steering control is a breeze, however, there is no evident for absence of chassis bounce.

But steering on a road with fair condition is no hassle. Besides, you get to choose from two transmissions, too, 5-speed manual and semi-automatic. The semi-automatic transmission is quite slow while the manual gearbox makes engagement a little difficult.

Nevertheless, Chery QQ is possibly not the safest car around town. Apparently in a crash test conducted by Euro NCAP, the driver would suffer a good load of injuries, inflicted especially on the driver#8217;s head and upper body. That said, the test#8217;s fairness has been doubted as the model used did not come with dual frontal airbags.

If you were a meticulous driver who dare not go above 80kmph, then perhaps QQ would be a good investment for you budget savers out there.

If you wish to invest in car to drive around the city, QQ is a satisfactory selection. Probably not a choice for fussy drivers but it has been receiving positive criticisms from a few.
