2011 Saab 9-5 Reviews, Pictures and Prices | U.S. News Best Cars

Used Car: 2011 Saab 9-5 Review The 2011 Saab 9-5 is a stylish alternative to the usual Japanese and German class hallmarks, with an upscale interior and comfortable handling. However, the 9-5 doesn’t offer enough to compete with most cars in the class. The 2011 Saab 9-5 is ranked: When it was new, reviewers liked the 2011 Saab 9-5’s unique styling and comfortable, upscale cabin. Most said it felt reasonably quick, but relented that the 9-5 is not a sport sedan. Still, critics generally liked the 9-5, but some said that it offered few advantages over its more popular competitors. One advantage it does carry is that it was named a 2011 IIHS Top Safety Pick. Its reliability score ...

Review: Saab 9-3 Turbo X | The Truth About Cars

Review: Saab 9-3 Turbo X Volvo did it. Acura still does it. Audi has been doing it for a long time. And now Saab is giving it a shot: start with a front-wheel-drive platform, add a powerful engine and an all-wheel-drive system (hopefully with a few tricks up its sleeve), and then try to pass the nose-heavy result off as a viable alternative to a balanced rear-wheel-drive BMW. To wit: the limited edition 2008 Saab 9-3 Turbo X, in sedan or wagon SportCombi form. Success? Not so much. Imagine a Saab 9-3 with a coat of black metallic paint, prominent stylized dual exhaust tips and 18” alloys that recall the tri-spoke rims that distinguished the brand’s iconic 900 SPG. That’s the Turbo ...

The History of SAAB 9000

The History of SAAB 9000

The History Of SAAB 9000 The 9000, an executive car made by Saab, was released in 1985. It was replaced by the Saab 9-5 in the fall of 1998 (for the 1999 model year). The Type Four chassis, upon which the 9000 was based, was shared with the Fiat Croma, Lancia Thema and the Alfa Romeo 164. The Fiat and Lancia looked much like the Saab, but the Alfa Romeo only shared the chassis. Because they were very similar, many parts can be exchanged between the four cars regardless of brand. For example, the doors from the Fiat Croma fit directly on the 9000, but are lighter, due to less side impact protection. The windshield from the Croma can also be used on the 9000. This type of windshield gives ...

Car Lust: Saab 9-3 Viggen

Car Lust: Saab 9-3 Viggen

Saab 9-3 Viggen I’m currently wrapped in denial. Actually, avoidance might be closer to the mark, but either way I’m currently not in a good mental state. For the past two decades Saab has been my favorite automaker because it so enthusiastically embraced three of my favorite automotive attributes: an individualistic philosophy, the magic of turbocharging, and characteristically hunchbacked profiles. The result? Magic, in the form of magnificently funky and atypically useful sporty cars like the Sonett, 99. 900, and 9000. Long-time readers may remember that the 1986 Saab 900 SPG is my personal Car Lust high-water mark. Now, of course, Saab’s future is in doubt. After ...

2011 Saab 9-5 – Kelley Blue Book

2011 Saab 9-5 When General Motors faced bankruptcy in 2009 and was forced to shed half its eight U.S. brands, Sweden-based Saab #8211; acquired by GM years ago #8211; was one that had to go. When early efforts to sell the company failed, it entered the Swedish version of Chapter 11 bankruptcy, suspended operations and went into liquidation. But then tiny Dutch exotic sports-car maker Spyker stepped in and bought the proud Born from Jets brand and all its assets, with financing from the Swedish government and European investment banks. Saab then resumed operations as an independent automaker with its own design, engineering and state-of-the-art manufacturing, and is again building mid-size ...

Saab 9-3 | Auto Express

Verdict The restyled 9-3 SportWagon is a handsome estate car, and the performance and economy provided by the new twin-turbodiesel powerplant are further welcome plus points. Safety remains a typical Saab strong point, but although the 9-3#039;s handling will satisfy most people, the car doesn#039;t offer the crisp dynamics of some of its German rivals, nor is the build quality of its cabin as good. Saab is promising its new 9-3 family will have the X-factor when it goes on sale in the UK in September. All three models in the line-up – the Cabriolet, Sport Saloon and SportWagon – have been given a major facelift, with styling inspired by the Aero X concept, which Auto Express ...

The Saab 9-3 Viggen History svgallery=1999_9_3_VIGGEN Photo #038; Video Credits: Saab Automobile The Saab 9-3 #8220;Viggen#8221; was derived from the SAAB JA-37 Viggen jet fighter. Viggen means The Thunderbolt in Swedish, derived from the Norse god Thor#8217;s warhammer Mjollner. As we know, the 1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen began as the Saab 900 Concept Coupe in 1995. It took a whole four years later for the engineering of that concept coupe to be unveiled to the public at the the New York Auto Show in March of 1999. Peter Leonard, leader of Saab#8217;s SVO team said that #8220;we wanted to give the 9-3 Viggen a strong individuality, a personality of its own that was evident in everything from ...
