Shed of the Week: Saab 9-5 Aero estate – PistonHeads

SHED OF THE WEEK: SAAB 9-5 AERO ESTATE Last we heard from Shed, he was even more curmudgeonly than usual. He was being dragged to Gatwick to enjoy (endure?) an annual vacation of Mrs Shed’s choosing. Normal service will be resumed in a couple of weeks but, for now, it is the task of your humble reporter to deliver a worthy Shed. Here goes. A fast, cheap, manual estate? Excellent Though this Saab 9-5 Aero Estate has been chosen this Friday, it’s actually been on our Shed wires for a while. Often on the shortlist, the Saab has missed out a quite a few times thanks to the presence of cars that are more exciting, rarer, more relevant to that week’s content or a combo of all ...

Saab 9-5

Saab 9-5 The many engine families found in the Saab 9-5 chassis use the venerable Garrett GT series of turbochargers. While most of these turbochargers prove to be great performers, they have a slight disadvantage in the rebuilding and service aftermarket. Garrett offers all of the rebuild components needed to service these turbochargers, but some items are usually on a long back order log. With this being noted, it is very important to keep up with proper vehicle maintenance as well as good operating habits to prolong the life of your turbocharger as long as possible. We reccomend more frequent oil and filter changes, as well as practicing a good engine starting and shut off routine. ...

Saab 9000 | Saab Cars & Trollhattan Saab

Saab 9000 Could the Saab 9000 be the modern Saab that time forgot? The Saab 900 is a cult classic and even the NG900 and OG9-3 have a decent following as well. The 9-3 Sport Sedan and 9-5 are current models and as such have their solid appreciation #8211; but the 9000 is a car that doesn#8217;t get much of a mention. It#8217;s hard to believe, but the Saab 9000 in my driveway right now was first conceived out of a partnership that was forming when my age was still measured in single digits. In the mid 1970#8242;s Saab#8217;s Marcus Wallenberg got together with Lancia#8217;s Giovanni Agnelli. They started the co-operation that would see the Saab-Lancia 600 produced to less than modest success. ...

Drive – Saab 9-5 Aero XWD Review

Make an enquiry Pros Spacious cabin Generously equipped Engine refinement and performance It’s something different Exterior styling Cons Expensive Lumpy ride Heavy Interior quality short of segment standard Poor resale value New-generation cars are typically launched every seven years; Saab’s all-new 9-5 took 13. But we should be grateful it is here at all, because this is a car that nearly died. The new 9-5 was in danger of being stillborn as its then parent, General Motors, jettisoned brands to avoid bankruptcy. Luckily, Dutch sports car maker Spyker brought it back from the brink. Saab remains on the precipice, however, as its owner, now called Sweden Automobile, ...

Saab 9-3 (2003 & present) | Saab Cars & Trollhattan Saab

Saab 9-3 (2003 #8211; present) As the current volume leader for Saab in many markets across the world, the 9-3 carries torch for Saab heading into the future. First released as a 2003 model, the new 9-3 Sport Sedan was quite a groundbreaking model for Saab in several ways. Most notable was the absence of a hatch, a feature that was present on every small Saab since the 99. The lack of a hatch, or even a hatch option, probably has something to do with the next reason why the 9-3 was so important for Saab. The introduction of this car marked Saab’s new goal of moving out of its niche market and competing with the big players in the luxury market: BMW, Mercedes and Audi. For 2003, the 9-3 ...
