Saab 9-5 2001 review The 9-5 is an honest car that does a good job with strengths that real people want in a real car, for real life. Paul Gover road tests and reviews the new 2001 Saab 9-5. The Saab Estate is a comfort to have around. Having the newest, trendiest car in the cul-de-sac isn’t always as good as it looks. There’s a lot to be said for a car that’s built to do a job. Or work with a family. The Porsche 911 Turbo is a dream machine, but it could be a nightmare if you had four kids. That’s why so many people end up driving a family Falcon, or something like the Saab 9-5 Estate if they have the cash to splash in the luxury class. The Swedish family wagon ...

Saab 9000 (1996)

Saab 9000 (1996)

1996 Saab 9000 Aero Oh, so exotic, so rich, and so powerful! I’ve forever been fond of Saabs, they’ve always caught my eye. Yet, while they’ve attracted me in many ways, somehow their hatchback style never struck me as sophisticated and expensive (which is how they’re categorized). The improved 9000 has changed all that. Although it still has a hatchback, and looks like a combination of the Saab 900 and a Volkswagen Jetta, the enhanced geometrical shape somehow creates a classier, more elegant look (a hatchback that doesn’t look like a hatchback). At any rate, the Saab 9000 is beautiful and comes in 3 versions: CS, CSE, and Aero. The flashy red Saab 9000 Aero I drove was not ...

View all 17 photos Anyway, we’ve known the guy for a long time, so when he tells us something, we can believe it. And he told us that he can rarely stop at a gas station without being approached by curious owners of BMWs, Audis and Mercedes who know exactly the car he’s driving–the 2010 Saab 9-5, of course–but have many questions, requests to look inside and of course ask how much. Our Saab p.r. guy related how one BMW 7-Series standard-wheelbase owner enthused over the new Saab 9-5 and then asked the price. $50,000. What? Do you know how much that 7-series cost me!? Perhaps BMW’s plan to sell engines to Saab should be reconsidered. In the name of actually ...

Contents page re-write [ edit ] I re-wrote this page because, as a 9000 owner, I felt that it was incomplete, poorly written and in places inaccurate. I would welcome any input. I removed the timeline setup because it is unbecoming of a Wiki page, as far as I can tell.150.212.14.106 (talk ) 16:52, 11 February 2009 (UTC) edits by somebody who vandalized elsewhere [ edit ] I do not know if the edits by User:Ohlins8990 are valid or not. The user, with a new account, has vandalized other pages today, so I don’t trust him/her. Could somebody who knows check through the history of this article and see if the changes by that user make sense? And Ohlins, care to give me a reason not to ...

Saab 9-5 delayed? Seems so. | Saab Cars & Trollhattan Saab

Saab 9-5 delayed? Seems so. Automotive News have written a major story on an issue that first surfaced a few days ago. Back then it was rumours about the Chevy Cruze compact car being delayed. Today#8217;s story concerns quite a lot of GM#8217;s coming models being delayed due to funding problems putting constraints on research and development. General Motors is postponing nearly all of its spending on product development in 2009 and 2010 #8212; a cost-cutting move that could delay the introduction of key vehicles such as the Chevrolet Cruze. The automaker also is cutting spending on engineering, design and r#038;d, say sources familiar with GM#8217;s plans. So far, nothing has been officially ...

More Research Links The Saab 9-5 is a four-door front wheel drive mid-size sedan. Saab started out as a Swedish company until 1990 when General Motors purchased half of their automotive division. In 1999, the Saab 9-5 was introduced as the first premium four-door sedan and replaced the Saab 9000. The vehicle offered new technology for the times, such as Active Head Restraints which were designed to prevent whiplash in the event of an accident. Over the years some of the Saab features were lost and then regained like the in-floor ignition system. Throughout the following years, the engine and trims changed slightly, the exterior look was modified in little ways and the driveability was improved. ...

2011 Saab 9-3 Reviews, Pictures and Prices | U.S. News Best Cars

Used Car: 2011 Saab 9-3 Review The 2011 Saab 9-3 has good safety ratings, available all-wheel drive and a decent reliability score. However, reviewers thought that some competitors surpassed it with better performance and nicer interiors. The 2011 Saab 9-3 is ranked: When it was new, test drivers really liked the 2011 Saab 9-3 for its strong brakes and nimble handling. Those are two key ingredients for good performance, but reviewers weren’t impressed with the 9-3’s underwhelming 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. However, if you’re not power-hungry and want available all-wheel drive, the 9-3 is one of few choices out there among used small cars. Front-wheel ...

2011 Saab 9-5 Auto Review

2011 Saab 9-5 The beginning of a new era Gary Witzenburg on 08.17.2010 Back a few years, when newly appointed General Motors Design Vice President Ed Welburn was asked how he could keep each of GM’s (then) eight U.S. brands fresh, appealing and different from each other, he said each would have an icon vehicle from which its design language would be derived. Before Sweden’s Saab was sold to exotic Dutch sports-car maker Spyker early this year, it was one of those eight. What was Welburn’s icon vehicle for future Saab design? The old eccentric Saab 900. That made sense because the first-generation 900-introduced in 1978 and built through 1993-is considered the company’s ...

PetrolBlog | A Different Spin

Regrets: Saab 9000 Aero Perhaps I#8217;ve been extremely lucky with my used car purchases, but I regret selling every single one of them. I loved the solidity and quality of my old Audi 100 2.3-litre. I enjoyed my Nissan Primera GT P11 to bits #8211; most notably its good engine and fantastic chassis. And now I regret selling my beloved Saab 9000 Aero a few months ago. The Aero was replaced by a Volvo 850 R. Don#8217;t get me wrong, I#8217;m delighted with my “aaarrr”. It#8217;s a fantastic car, and, in some crucial areas, better than the Aero. It#8217;s just that I#8217;m sentimental when it comes to cars, and that I miss some of its features, curiously a few of them intangible. One ...

Saab 9-5 and 9-3 Tid. Water Pump and Cambelt/Timing Belt failure… Be Warned. | Motorvation Saab's Blog

Motorvation Saab#039;s Blog Posted by: motorvationsaab | March 22, 2012 Saab 9-5 and 9-3 Tid. Water Pump and Cambelt/Timing Belt failure#8230; Be Warned. We have now seen several cases of premature diesel water pump failure. This results in very large bills ! The Saab 9-3 and 9-5 16v and 8v diesels ( Z19DTH and Z19DT) can suffer from water pump failure resulting in severe damage to the engine. The trend we are seeing is that this failure can happen around the 60k and above miles. The Saab  schedule interval for the cambelt change is,  72k miles or 8 years for cars up to 2007, and for 2007 models on is 90k or 5 years.   We are finding however that the water pumps, which ...
