Morgan Plus 4: Morgan Magic

Morgan Plus 4 : Morgan Magic The Morgan Plus 4 offers all the charms of a 1940s roadster with the reliability and performance of a modern car The Morgan Motor Company is a rare entity in today’s hi-tech, ever-changing car industry – a car maker that clings tightly to its past. Despite some recent concessions to modern technology, a new Morgan roadster today bears more than a passing resemblance to the first four-wheeler Moggie, the 4/4 model, that was introduced 75 years ago. Pull back the front carpet in the Plus 4, for example, and you’ll reveal the same ash wood frame mounted on a steel chassis that has provided the backbone for Morgan cars for decades. I went to Chris Lawrence’s Memorial Service today and very moving it was too. A suitably dignified service with interesting speeches by a number of different speakers, including Charles. An amazing collection of cars outside the Abey, including TOK 258; an SLR (258 TOK); a Monica and the Deep Sanderson ‘Twinny’ amongst others, including Charles’ AeroMax. After the service I went back to the Works and saw the progress on a number of current projects, or should that read new cars? Firstly, does anyone recognise what is in the background here (TOK is in the foreground): Yes, they had just finished the first pre-production prototype Plus 8+ (or whatever they decide to ...

1950 saw the advent of the first fast four-wheel Morgan – but much better was to follow Audacious under-bonnet transformations are a time-honoured British tradition. There are uplifting yarns woven around Buick’s V8 suddenly appearing in a stately Rover, about Cosworth’s BDA pumping up the humble Ford Escort shopping car, and Ford’s small-block V8 turning the pretty AC Cobra into a fire-breathing monster. The Morgan Plus 8 is another case in point, of course, but those tweedy tearaways at Malvern Link got into hot-rodding a whole lot earlier than that. Phrases like ‘a recipe that is almost startling’ and ‘remarkable acceleration and a high cruising ...

1964 Morgan Plus 4 Plus news, pictures, and information Engine Num: 511605 Sold for $230,500 at 2013 Bonhams . In 1910, Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan assembled his first two-passenger Trike at Malvern Link, Worcestershire, UK. It was a three-wheeler so that it could be registered as a motorcycle and thus avoid the road taxes normally levied on four-wheelers. HFS continued to produce similarly styled vehicles until 1936, when he introduced a real four-wheel car, the 4-4. To this day, the V8-powered Morgans (or those propelled by electricity) remain philosophically firmly entrenched in the 1930s. The Plus-Four-Plus (+4+) was a two-seat fiberglass coupe with wind-up windows and Grand Touring ...

1984 Morgan Plus 8 | Hagerty – Classic Car Price Guide

1984 Morgan Plus 8 – Classic Car Price Guide History of the 1968-2004 Morgan Plus Eight Morgan’s Plus Four had been produced since 1954 using the Triumph 4-cylinder engine, with the majority of production going to the United States. With the introduction of the Triumph TR6, however, the 4-cylinder engine was being discontinued and Morgan had to find something new for their most powerful model. Rover unsuccessful attempted to buy Morgan, but discussions exposed the potential of using Rover’s V8 in Morgan’s next generation automobile. Morgan 4-4 Le Mans 1939

Morgan 4-4 Le Mans 1939 There is some debate as to whether the 1939 Morgan 4-4 that competed at Le Mans was the same car that competed in 1938. They may well have shared the same chassis number but there the similarities end. It is known that the Morgan factory provided a Morgan 4-4 to the Winter Garden garage for Dick Anthony to prepare for the race. Change from Standard Specification As in motor sport today, a car prepared for the Le Mans in 1939 would be very different from a standard car available from a dealer. Witness the development of the Aero 8 for the 2002 Le Mans race. Whereas at face value the Aero 8 GT(N) resembles a normal road car, it has a widened one piece kevlar front ...

This is the car I had posted for feedback about polishing the raw aluminum. The car has painted fenders that had been painted about 6 weeks ago and then were wrapped in plastic by the guy who transported them..big mistake! The history on this car is cool. Prior to 1936, Morgan made 3 wheeled cars with 2 wheels up front driven by a sideways V engine (a JAP engine) and a single wheel in the back. 1936 was the first year for 4 wheeled cars from Morgan. This one is authenticated by the Morgan factory as serial #123. I started doing a bit of disassembly ...
