New MINI One is Coming | Motorlogy

New MINI One is Coming When BMW revived the iconic MINI brand in 2001, the car became a big hit for the German company and spawned performance, convertible and station wagon variants. More than a decade later, a new MINI is readying for release. The updated MINI will feature a new range of engines and an adaptive suspension. BMW’s main goal was to refine the car without losing its essential character. The MINI Vision concept model  gives several cues about the direction BMW is taking, and the new car is noticeably larger than the current model. However, smaller engines will be offered to deliver better fuel economy and reduced carbon dioxide emissions. MINI drivers enjoy spirited ...

Galway Independent | New Mini back to where it once belonged

Related Stories BMW has launched the third-generation of its modern Mini in a major ceremony at the factory in Oxford, where the car is built. Prices for Ireland have already been confirmed and will start from €22,530 when it goes on sale early next year. Unlike the 2006 refresh of the model, this one is all new from the ground up. In fact, the UKL1 platform upon which the new Mini is built will also go on to see service in a new family of front-wheel-drive BMW models, starting with the 2 Series Multi Activity Tourer. Outside, styling changes have been kept to a minimum – Mini clearly knows that a major part of the car’s appeal lies in its retro looks – but inside, the changes ...

2010 MINI ONE D Prepped For Debut

2010 MINI ONE D Prepped For Debut They may look the same, and their names may sound similar, but Europeans know that there is quite a big difference in price and performance between a MINI ONE and a MINI Cooper. Nevertheless, for many city dwellers, the MINI ONE has proven to be a satisfying decaffeinated version of the MINI that we know and love here in America. Now an even more economical model called the MINI First, along with a diesel version of the MINI ONE are given the task of attempting to restart lagging European MINI sales. MINIs are not particularly cheap considering their limited size and (especially with the non-Cooper versions) limited power. With an eye towards luring more ...

Is this MINI one-dimensional?

Is this MINI one-dimensional?

The diesel MINI first came out in the summer of 2003 and somehow passed us by. Reading reports in other magazines suggested we hadn’t missed much; almost everyone complained that it was interminably slow. So you can imagine how apathetic I was to be assigned the MINI One D for review. Luckily for me, BMW took those early comments to heart, and the MINI One D tested here is much revised. The 1364cc all-aluminium diesel engine (of Toyota origin, but further developed by BMW specifically for the MINI) now produces 20% more power than the original, with power up to 88bhp, just 2bhp short of the petrol MINI One. Torque is much improved over the petrol version with 140lb.ft available between ...

Mini One vs BMW 116i | inGear

Mini One vs BMW 116i Both are entry-level models of a premium brand, both are German and they’re both powered by 1.6 litre petrol engines. Apart from that they could not be any more different. Here’s why: For starters, the Mini One test car was black and the 1-series Bee-Em was white. Jokes aside let’s see what’s what: MiniOne The Mini One is fitted with a 1.6 litre petrol engine with Valvetronic technology that produces 72 kW and 153 Nm torque. That’s about 20% less power than the standard (read R30k more expensive) Mini Cooper, but enough to get the little Mini to 100 km/h from standstill in a claimed 10.5 seconds. It will also go on to do 186 km/h. Claimed fuel consumption ...

Apple iPad Mini: One Week In – InformationWeek

Apple iPad Mini: One Week In iPad Mini Tablet: Visual Tour (click image for larger view and for slideshow) I want to love the iPad Mini, but I’m afraid it’s going to have to settle for something a little bit less. I’ve used the iPad Mini every day for the last week, jumping back and forth to a full-sized iPad and Google Nexus 7 to see how its usability compares day in and day out. Here’s what I found. Like the Nexus 7, the smaller, thinner, lighter frame of the iPad Mini makes it much more comfortable for couch surfing. On any given night, I settle in to watch TV at around 10 PM, with tablet in tow. The full-sized iPad can be fatiguing to use for the one or two hours ...
